Mexican Snuff Box

Post by dartsil »

HI all,

Can anyone assist with this particular box.

It is by Camacho of Mexico, I am however trying to determine the likely date of it, it looks 19th century but was just looking if possible to narrow down the date of it? I would guess c.1850-1880

Regards,
Colin

I think we cannot get closer than that.

Not shown as silversmiths per se, but maybe (?) look at commision merchant Francisco Camacho listed circa 1891, although only known here in iron metals: https://books.google.com/books?id=lLwXA ... th&f=false

Same period, there is also a Carlos Camacho listed as jeweler & watchmaker: https://books.google.com/books?id=Ip0CA ... nt&f=false
