Mexican Hallmark ID?

Postby ronm » Sat Jul 10, 2010 3:45 pm

My parents acquired a silver service set in Mexico in the mid-60s. I believe the eagle stamp indicates it's from Mexico City, but there's a hallmark I haven't been able to identify - while similar, I believe it's not Torres Vega. Anyone able to help?

The creamer is a sample from the set (platter, coffee and tea pitchers, creamer, sugar and cube sugar bowls). Thanks!

A. Torres Vega does use the eagle 1 mark, which indicates Mexico City, and marks with A Torres Vega. The other mark is D.F. which also indicates Mexico City, aka Distrito Federal.

Thank you!
Looking at the hallmarks shown on the World Marks page, the mark for Torres Vega looks quite different (not the "V" pattern on the pieces I have)...are you saying the mark on my pieces is Torres Vega? The V pattern aside, I was suspicious that it was meant to look like it, but had a crucial difference ("A ORRES VEGA", with what seems like the top stroke of a T before Torres, but no vertical stroke)...

There is a picture in the Hougart book of your exact mark.
