Hi,

Antwerp 1774, I don't know the maker.
Given your location that might fit. Stylistic that looks correct aswell.

There is a specialist on "gilde zilver" in Tilburg that I could get you in touch with.

Hi,

Tardy says it is .600 from Alexandria, but according to my Maroccan neighbours he got that wrong and it is indeed the mark from Cairo as Tom said.

It's assayed in London with the crown and 18 mark.

Hi,

The german text indicates that it is a birth medaillon for Carl Christian Mosser(?), born 20th April 1769 at 1AM.
The booklet seems to list military abbrevations.

Thanks Tom,

Maybe the mystery, that I assigned to it in my mind, just adds to the charm of the brooch. Sounds good to me.

Hi, I'm wondering about the 15ct mark on this piece. Carling mentioned, through private communication, that it is possible that the item was exported to Australia and therefor doesn't carry the English hallmarks. But he has seen this type of marking on other similar pieces in England (maybe due to e...

Hi, It is indeed Dutch, probably made around the last quarter of the 19th century in Groningen. Only the lion is an official stamp (833/000, used between 1814 and 1953). The rest are pseudo-marks for (from left to right) a maker's mark (mimicing the mark of Epke Hoytes), the city mark of Utrecht and...

Hi,

Chocolate (the handle on the pot is the main clue).
Typically there would be a rod in the knob of the pot, named a moussoir, but that is not always present (or lost). I don't think it's there in your set.
