Re: Help with Japanese Hallmark/Maker/Silversmith mark?

This is a typical modern fake/gift. I don't think it's made by solid silver. This kind of items are easy to find in eBay. Please be careful.

Re: Chinese card case

Hi Rauls, I appreciate your input please help me out; if 足銀 means "fine silver" what does 足紋 mean? Thanks very much for your assistance. Hello Oel, these two words are the same. In China, people called high-grade silver as '紋銀' and low-grade silver as '潮銀' until about 1950s. For silver fi...

Yes, it's 全聚, I knew nothing more about it, maybe a silversmith in the last half of 19c.

It's hard to tell the other mark is 足銀 or 足紋.

Re: Chinese ??

C.J Co. stands for China Jewelry Co., a gold, silver and jewelry store in Shanghai, China during 1920s~1930s (probably located at Nanjing Road, I need to check). I have seen marks CJ, C.J., C.J. Co for this company/store, and even 'CHINA JWLR' mark on a CES silver bowl onces. I also seen some item...

The mark looks in a computer font typeface. It's either a fake or newly made item.

It's the well-known Xuan De bronze ware (most are censers), initially made in Ming dynasty of China, but have been imitated in Qing dynasty and later (until now) in both China and Japan. I'm not an expert for bronze ware, and couldn't tell this whether your vase is very old or newly made, and whethe...

Re: HELP with Identification Of Chinese Silver Marks on Teap

1) It appears for me that the two handled higher pots are wine pots, another one should be a double-loop-handled teapot which is rarely to see now. For the two wine pots, I couldn't ensure they are made in solid silver instead of silverplated or cupronickel without testing. 2) The 4 enameled charact...

Re: Indian / Chinese Inkstand HMs?

Just as David R said, it's the Gothic K mark, it's a unknown mark for a retailer in Hong Kong. But some people felt it's actually gothic "H", and both this mark and the Lombard 'H' mark belonged to Haoching Co.

I can see a 84 mark and the other should be a mark's or town mark. I think it's Iran-made.

T90 is a modern mark used in Cambodia. If you go there, you will found items with this mark easily and the price is low. They are hand made, but most people think they are silverplated on cupronickel.

Re: ANIH Spoons

For the Chinese mark, it's more likely that the characters are "盛泰". Not only because the 2nd char look more closed to "泰", but also "泰" is used more often than "秦" in brand names.

I forgot mentioning that it's 13.9cm or about 5 1/2 inch. Also the bowl is very shallow as you can get from the pictures.

Is it a preserve spoon?

I have a CES spoon made by Tack Chang. It doesn't look an ordinary form, could I know whether it's a preserve spoon? Another silly question is that I don't understand the use of the preserve spoon, what is a preserve spoon used to work with? Thank you! http://www.silvercool.net/images/tcspoon1.jpg h...

It's "純銀" meant pure silver in Chinese and Japanese. This mark is generally used on Japanese silver.
