I wonder if there is a list available or explanation on the numbers inside the Eagle, I have seen all kind of numbers, but what do they mean? I...

With the only information known: An 18th century silver snuff box, WH makers mark only I dont even know the...

Re: Cute but mysterious Censer
I contacted the Cathedral and got the reply that it was probably sold as a souvenir in the Cathedral at some point. Current Botafumeiro was made in the 1970s but it was a replica of the one before that made in 1851. Since both look the same there can't be put an age on it, either way I learned a lot...

Re: Cute but mysterious Censer
It's a reproduction of the Botafumeiro, you can find in the web many pictures of it. From Wikipedia: "it is a famous thurible used at the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral, in Spain. Its name comes from the Galician language, where botar means to eject, to throw away, to expel, and the Latin fu...

Re: 6x Persian - Iran? Cup
Thanks AG2012 so that was correct, I didnt know the difference could be told by the number 4, good to know.
Good that this was back in my mind when I bought the cups, unknown topmark.
Wonder if its more like a maker mark, assay office or something completely different :)

6x Persian - Iran? Cup
So I think these marks are from Iran? The bottom right 2 symbols meaning silver?
What does the rest mean? 2 dots for 2nd degree silver?
Help is much appreciated, thanks

Got a pretty ashtray with the 833 Eagle mark and a unknown maker mark.

I hope the photo is clear its very small, hope to find the maker and working period.
Thanks

Re: Need help with Thorvald Marthinsen Mark
So I got my hands on something very simular. maybe Truls J Tonsberg can help me out here as well. Its some sort of serving plate with 1861-1961 on it and a Norwegian flag with (crown) Post on it and the letter W. The W could be Wilhelmsen founded 1861 making it a one year anniversary plate. But what...

Re: Italian Serving Tray
Hi Amena, The tray is very deformed, its hard to see but the bottom is all wobbly and on many places a bit broken, 2 of the 4 legs came off completely. I found only 2 similar items one being sold as Sterling and one as plated, but both not exactly the same: (admin edit - see Posting Requirements ) I...
