A nice Jugendstil spoon, would welcome one like it in my collection - as already said, DÉPOSÉ is found fairly often on German silver...

Re: Salad flatware Georg Jensen

In the early 1920s Frederick Lunning, a Dane who'd promoted Georg Jensen silver, worked to popularize Jensen with the American public, finding success, in 1924 he opened the first Jensen store in New York (Georg Jensen Inc., New York was owned by the Lunning family until 1968), and he was also given...

Jensen used a wide variety of marks, there's no problem with your 'GI' marks - Gundolph Albertus designed 'Cactus' in 1930, suspect your pieces are likely early...

Re: Caleb Beal spoon (maybe)

This is a Norwegian sugar spoon from 1858 (can't make out the month), 13-1/3 lød silver (approx. .833 fineness), likely by Bergen maker Christian Børs (born 1788, master in 1814, died in 1859) - his marks were 'CB', or 'BÖRS'/'BØRS'. Below is mine by Christian Børs, year mark partially struck, looks...

Re: Sterling Dance Purse Maker Query

Hi - welcome to the forums (you did just fine with your images). It's partially struck, but is the mark of the James E. Blake Co., typical of their production - please see here: https://www.925-1000.com/americansilver_B4.html The scratch-marks look to me like '4 113', doubtful they are a date (thoug...

Re: Ongoing mystery of the MMC (crowned) mark & Meneses Orfebres

Years ago, our late friend and co-admin Pat noticed a similarity in the center symbol of this mark and the Meneses trademark, it was discussed here several times, and in the ways of the internet, a very tentative attribution to Meneses somehow became 'fact', indiscriminately spread, even though they...

Re: Need help with marks, Thank you in advance ...

Indian, have seen them unmarked, with a maker's mark, and/or 'SILVER', would guess dating mid 20th century or later, when I've seen them offered by sellers in India, usually described somewhat ambiguously as 'old', 'vintage', etc. This one is mine, 4.75" long: https://i.postimg.cc/vH00sRxS/spoo...

Feeling just a bit of 'spoon envy' - the image below is from an archive of Gustav Gaudernack's drawings for David Andersen, dated 1900-14:

Re: Gorham - Paris "Look Alike"

Sorry, I'm confused by the apparent availability of only partial images and the belief that this is anything other than one of many variants in Gorham's multi-motif 'Paris' pattern - from what can be seen of the marks, they are typical of Gorham and the marks expected on this pattern. A quick online...

Re: O.H. or C.H. Miller marks on bright cut cocktail forks

Hi, on my phone and short on time, but will say that engraved patterns like this were common in the 1880s, various manufacturers often producing very similar designs with slight variations, and they were made in both sterling and silverplate. The motif on yours was often called 'Lily' - lacking a 'S...

Re: Gorham & Co 5-1/2" Coin/Sterling Ladle

Unlikely that Gorham would mark sterling silver with their silverplate marks - testing results are sometimes wrong. If the pattern below is the one described, while somewhat similar, and would date to around the same time as the 'Queen Bess' coffee spoons, it is different, and definitely electroplat...

Was hoping you'd see this, Silverly, and use your skill to locate the image! Is there a reason you believe Hamilton was a retailer? Personally, haven't seen any indication they were anything other than a wholesale manufacturer. A size wasn't noted, but this appears to be a copy of the large berry sp...
