Re: Faberge ash tray ceramic with unusual initials
Hi, Here is the link to Smolensk museum. One of the images depicting the princess working in her workshop in Paris. М.К.Тенишева в своей мастерской в Париже http://1-smol.ru/10472-neskolko-prichin-posetit-smolenskuyu-xudozhestvennuyu-galereyu-v-novogodnie-vyxodnye/ Some of more important objects were...

Re: Faberge ash tray ceramic with unusual initials
Hi, Мария Клавдиевна Тенишева was an important figure. In spite of extensive search (in Russian) I could not find a single reference to her pottery and let alone her signature. Her pottery is not mentioned in Russian forums, either. Rarity cannot be the reason, much of her work (even in wood) is pre...

Re: Faberge and Alexander Petrov hallmarks
Hi, There is Alexander Petrov in Ivanov. I think it`s reliable having full address. But instead of being described as Faberge and Gratchev Brothers sub-contractor, he is ``mentioned in 1907``. Very curious for an important sub-contractor, indeed. 3256. Петров Александр Федорович Владелец мастерской ...

Re: help with a Russian hallmarks
Right. At closer inspection. Why is the handle sandwiched and riveted? And without marks. Unusual meander bands. I suppose if the silversmith wanted to have a nice kovsh he would have used better coin in spite of ruining its numismatic value. The coin in this condition is worthless and a good candid...

Re: Faberge ash tray ceramic with unusual initials
Hi, There is a documented Faberge ceramic kovsh with similar ornaments, but silver mounted, attributed to Stroganov School ( Керамическая мастерская Строгановского училища ).There was, obviously, a direct connection between the Stroganov School and the House of Fabergé. Ceramic marks are different, ...

Re: Unknown European Mark
Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
I think the image was engraved, meaning it`s not the mark at all.
Are there more marks? What`s the object?
Regards

Re: unidentified candelabra - German?
Hi, I suppose candle holders bobeches (cups) are removable. That explains everything. They are often missing and replaced.I prefer cut glass. Meaning candlesticks are authentic but still no idea of the country of origin and let alone the maker. Germany or Austria mid/19th century is the best I can do...

Re: unidentified candelabra - German?
Hi, Yes, Cairo, fineness .800.Since 1916. Very strange combination of marks, indeed.Have never seen it before. Old German silver assayed in Cairo. Not very likely. Egyptian silver marked with 13 Lot to deceive. Possible. On the other hand, candlesticks look very European baroque revival. In a word, a ...

Re: Unknown silver object with unknown marks
Hi, I guess it was a part of halo (aureola). You know, the halo surrounding the head of saints. It was made separately. There are tiny holes for nails to fix it. But difficult to say because too much is missing. It could have been attached to a book. It`s hand pierced and hand engraved. Best wishes. ...

Re: Unknown silver object with unknown marks
Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
I think it`s a part of Russian silver ``oklad``( icon cover ).
The marks should be St George for Moscow and the second letter in maker`s mark ``S`` in Cyrillic alphabet.
Let`s wait for other comments.
Regards

Re: unidentified candelabra - German?
Hi, Welcome to the forum. The mark ``13`` stands for 13 Lot fineness (.813). It was used in Germany (until 1886) and Austria – Hungary (until 1866). http://www.925-1000.com/Fgerman_marks_b1884.html ``CSL``? is maker`s mark. Town mark was either struck separately or ``13`` Lot incorporated. It`s miss...

Re: Help with marks on a large try
Hi, In Rosenberg #8027 ``B mit Krone`` (crowned B) stands for Braga used 1800- 1887. (Reference: Costa, Arte famosa). Beja is a bit different in Rosenberg (crowned B in a rectangle) but there is Beja crowned B without rectangle elsewhere. Anyway, as suggested by oel , it looks like Portugal. I am al...

Re: Belt Buckle Hallmarks. New to this
It`s definitively Fleming silver. Have found exactly the same buckle on their website (still in business). Since 1945 Fleming Silver has provided heirloom quality silver jewelry, buckles, spurs, saddle trim and more to riders of all ages. Now, the tradition continues. Google for `` Buckles - Fleming...

Re: Belt Buckle Hallmarks. New to this
Eagle mark with registered maker`s number 218 has not been identified. It was seen on tea set.
It could be number 214 assigned to Fleming (last letters in the oval mark are ```EMING``).
Regards

Re: Clarification & Verification
Just recalled having seen the simplified coat of arms on the tombstone of Scarlatti family (musicians) in the church of Montesanto in Naples. Or a Florentine family of the same name, the musician Family claiming to have been connected to. At least a hint where to start searching. Engraving coat of a...

Re: Clarification & Verification
Hi, More probably Italian (cannot identify German Reichsmark). The shape looks like Italian mark 1944 – 1968. http://www.925-1000.com/Fitalian_marks_01.html `` AL `` should stand for Alessandria or Valenza (both towns in the same province), but without numbers difficult to identify. Is there a numbe...

Hi,
The sponsor`s mark is Dart Silver Ltd, Grangemouth, Stirlingshire.
They are silver dealers, not makers, and I doubt they import silver.
They had the case marked, but it`s curious it had no marks at all.
Cheers

Re: Pair of spoons or part of a set?
Hi, Queen Anne sets of six are extremely rare. Even two 1707 matching table spoons are rare find. Unless meant for a special use (eg. basting spoons), table spoons were made in sets. Dog nose or trefid, and rat tail? It would be nice if you could show us both spoons and the marks in another post. Ch...
