Hi,

I never noticed the Egypt marks being listed under the AU before. Yes that is the correct list, with Keneh added.

Hi, The mark is from Alexandrie. Tardy has two different lists in his booklets. One in the silver edition and another in the gold-platine book. The ones in the gold-platine one are the correct ones. My neighbors corrected the silver edition for me without ever having seen the other one and they match.

Hi, There are two marks on it which indicates that the item was imported in The Netherlands. The mark with the number 5 is a weight indicator for items with a lot of loose parts. Every number represents 5 grams of weight, in your case thus 25 grams. The V mark is a Dutch taxmark that was used for fo...

Hi,

The crown "O" is the re-essay mark of 1807 (rare mark as it was only used a few months) and the crowned "V" is the taxmark used between 1814 and 1853 (used until 1893 on foreign silver).

Hi,

The correct name for such a brooch is a "penannular brooch", typical Celtic cloak pin.

Hi,

I think it's a card holder, for business cards etc.
The roman numerals are not hallmarks, the sword is indeed Dutch.

Hi, Although this is a hallmarks forum, I would like to say that rounded facets does not always indicate glass. It can also be a poorly cut gemstone (as I've come across before). The "lip test" can be helpful, but is merely a sign of early warning. If you like to distinguish between topaz,...

Hi,

Definitely Dutch marks and pseudo-marks.
The lion (with the arabic "2") and the maker's mark (the <something> with 59(?) below in a square) are genuine marks, the others are pseudo.
A better shot of the maker's mark could identify him/her/them.

Hi,

They may have been illegal, but the problem was that the people who needed to judge the authenticity of the marks were not educated in that topic as good as we are now. As said, it is from about 1900, prior to 1903.

Hi,

They are Dutch speudo-marks of around 1900. The only aunthentic mark is the maker's mark in the square, but I can't make it out.

Hi,

The crowned O's are Dutch pseudomarks, so seems to be consistent with the import period.
