trefid spoon
I don't mean to keep putting everything in the Dutch silver section but usually, my only lead has me lean this way. Anyway I recently acquired a beautiful old trefid spoon that is only marked with a makers mark which looks like a JR combined. It has what looks like a mirrored cipher engraved on the ...

2 possibly German trefid spoons?
I recently won an auction that included these two spoons which stylistically look German to me. They are both marked with the maker's mark of a conjoined LF I believe. There are no other marks. They both have reeded rattails as well. Any help is appreciated. https://i.postimg.cc/tggPMwHt/IMG-8036.jp...

17th century Dutch Trefid spoon?
This might not be Dutch at all but the style of the monogram looks exactly like the monograms on 2 of my 17-century Dutch (Frisian) spoons. The maker's mark looks like a JG or LG? Re: Unknown marks on imported tea pot
I am not sure if the piece is old but the three crowns is the mark for the Frisian city of Sneek in the Netherlands. Peter will be able to tell you if they are real marks or not. He is the resident expert in Dutch silver, especially pseudo dutch marks

Re: Hallmark identification
it could be silver, it's very difficult to tell based on your pictures and without it being in hand. I couldn't find anything in silver plate or silver with that maker's mark (at least in the online English references). Of the actual hallmarks, only an E is readable, the rest is very unclear. The E ...

Re: Hallmark identification
If the engraving says 1937 (it's hard to tell) then this piece is only 84 years old. That's if the engraving is contemporary to its manufacture. But if it's not, did your family own it and then wait a few decades to have it engraved as a trophy for themselves? Is there an "A. Price" in you...

17th/18th Century Covered Goblet
I was super excited to get this cup. It was listed as 19th century but I doubt that. The seller was just a random online seller who didn't specialize in silver. I can only guess where it comes from though. It is made of 6 parts and has NO marks or mark remnants. With the exception of the center rod ...

Jacobus Bontekoe Leeuwarden 18th century Occasion spoon
This was a fun find. I believe it is by Jacobus Bontekoe of Leeuwarden who worked from 1736 to maybe 1769? I have seen this terminal on later 19th-century Dutch spoons but not on 18th-century ones so it was a fun find. https://i.postimg.cc/xXKRD2Ld/IMG-7384.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/8s5tFxgy/IMG-7417...

Set of 6 Tilsit Captains Teaspoons
I have a set of 6 12 Loth silver teaspoons by Tilsit Silversmith Johann Andreas Koschinski. They are pinprick monogrammed D. Roth 1822. I don't know if they qualify as captains spoons but they definitely have a nautical theme with a woman leaning on an anchor. They measure 6" long and are very ...

Dike Impey Dog Nose Fork
I recently acquired this Dog Nose fork from an English auction house. They said it was by Dike Impey c.1725. It only has part of a maker's mark with no trace or evidence of any other marks. It measures about 7.3" long. It is kinda late for a wavy end fork but not unheard of if he was rounding o...

Re: spoons of 17-18 centuries
The first spoons is probably silver and looks Prussian or Polish in origin but the mark is pretty rubbed and hard to see. Peter is right about the second spoon not being silver. It's Scandinavian in style but I believe it is English made

Oh well I hope so. Thank you againoel wrote:So far there are no good books about; Alkmaar, Enkhuizen or Hoorn or so called silver of the Noorderkwartier or West Frisian silversmiths.
Perhaps in the near future.

Enkhuizen spoon?
I just received this spoon which stylistically reminds me of Enkhuizen but it only has one blurry mark. I know this is also a popular style of spoon that was frequently copied later on. I took a gamble but the wear in the bowl seems old and honest to me. It does have the later dolphin in a triangle ...

1665/66 The Hague Trefid Spoon
As far as I can tell this spoon was made in The Hague c.1665 or 1666 but I don't know who the maker is. Turns out it's Swedish from Stockholm. The maker is Friedrich Heinrich Klinck who worked from 1723 to 1754

Re: 18th century German? Ball foot beaker. Unknown maker
the scratch marks are more shallow than I am used to seeing so that might explain why there is more than one. I think it's early 18th century. I couldn't find anything in my Swiss books or the Danish book, haven't checked Swedish but I don't think it is. I have a few German silver books but as Germa...
