What mark is this on my spoon?

Dear Forum members Can you help my to identify the mark on my soup spoon? The spoon has 52 grams and from the style I would date it around 1840. The 12 is for 12 Lot, so continental Europe. Any idea for the second mark? Thank you Jörg http://abload.de/img/12v6u70.jpg http://abload.de/img/12v6u70.jpg

Is this soup spoon from Belgium?

Dear Forum members please help my identifying this soup spoon. I assume it is from Belgium. It weights 52 gramm and from the style I assume a date around 1880. Where is this hallmark from?

Dear Forum members Can you help my identifying the rectangular A2 hallmark? It is from a soup spoon, 52 gramm, from the style probably around 1840 to 1880. (I think closer to 1880). The spoon has only the two hallmarks from the picture. A French Export mark and the A2 mark. I must mention, I have an...

Re: Incomplete Mark / Mountain with A and M

Hi

das gseet ganz fescht wie vörsöuberet uus... :-)

this mark looks VERY much like a mark for silverplated items.
Then AM would be the marker and the 5 most probably indicate, how much silver was used to plate the item, here 5 gramms.
Are there no other marks?

Kind regards

Re: Austrian holder ? Tukan Wien 800

Hi silverfan the only liquid for which the term "mager" and "fett" are used in German is milk. At least I can not recall other liquids attributed with these terms. So a device to seperate the meager milk from the top from the more fat milk on the bottom. Would be useful for cream...

Re: Roman emperors on German silver?

Hi Maurice What I wanted to say (I know, sometimes I am a little complicated...) is the following: I have not done enough research to propose, what your medaillon means. However, I am quite sure what it is not. It is not a portrait of a contemporary ruler, 17th or 18th century. I am certain due to t...

Re: Roman emperors on German silver?

Hi Maurice You make it real hard! You want not just opinins, but with references. So I am in the process of doing some research to support my opinions. This will take some more days. However here in the meantime some thoughts: First, identifying the person. Have you considered a medaillon based on a...

Re: Silver Box (Snuff?) Hunting scene

Hi

The mark in the middle, the Balance, Looks like the mark of the Europen Hallmark Convention. Is there a 925 between the balance?
See here:
http://www.hallmarkingconvention.org/assay-offices.php
If yes, the it was marked after 1972

Re: Coat of Arms German Bishop? Cardinal?

Hi Maurice I was following up your posts on the "Heraldik-im-Netz.de" site. On your respond you asked: So I was wondering if P = Paulus A= Abt Z= ? M = Marchtal. Would this be possible, and any idea what Z stands for? Did you already get an answer for the "Z" question? It stands ...

Re: Louis XIV 1660 1/12 ecu and a rock

I agree with Oel and also with your guess, Maurice. A souvenir from the time of the French Revolution. Why do I think so? This is a small coin, 1/12 ecu. A bit more than two grams. The coin is worn, remained in circulation for a long period. In Switzerland we had 1/2 Franc coins from similar size in...

Re: Six questions to a pre-revolutionary plate

Dear Maurice

After your reply I posted the family crest in a specialized forum. (www.heraldik-wappen.de). The forum language is German. But they could not adress the family crest either.
So the thread stops here.

Thank you one more time for your valuable contribution.

Kind regards

Six questions to a pre-revolutionary plate

Dear Forum Members I found this French Plate on a flea market. French silver is not my specialty, so I need help and advice. I found out the following: French, pre-revolutionary, from Paris. Bearing the “charge” mark “A” used from 1783 to 1783. It also has the “decharge” mark for large objects. The ...

Re: Need Help Identifying Continental Silver Hallmarks

Dear Joanie

sorry to disappoint you, this is silver plated. BB is the marker while 18G, 24G and 30G is the mass of silver used to plate the item, so 18 to 30 gramm of silver.
Anyway, reals nice set.

Kind regards

Re: Can anyone date this WMF Katalog?

Does the catalog have a document number? Most probably on the cover page inside or the last page inside? A small number, probably two digit numbers with lines inbetween? Such publications usually have publication numbers, and a part of the number resembles the printing year, and sometimes month. So ...

Re: 17th century canteen?

From the style it could be Switzerland or South Germany, Zug, Zürich, Nürenberg, Augsburg. But the mark on the knife does not fit. Crowns are not used in Switzerland, exept Geneva. And if it was Southern Germany Theo would have solved it long ago. Geneva does also have a key in their markins in Ad...

Re: 17th century canteen?

Dear Emma I agree with you, the canteen looks genuine 17th century. My estimate is 1670 to 1700. Continental Europe. The same for the knife. However, to find a reference is quite difficult without a good starting point, an estimate for a Region, Country or even City. Additionally, the mark on the sp...
