That tag is definitely stamped for Tiffany & Co. It may have been made for them by Armburst, or someone may have added the tag later.

Your ring appears to be 10Kt. white gold with a hardstone cameo (carved from a banded agate). The white upper portion carved for detail with the carnelian base for the background. The name escapes me at the moment... happens a lot lately... However they were usually owned by doctors and used atop a chimnied lamp (kerosine type) to heat water for a cup of tea, a medicinal concoction, or warm milk.

Most European countries require a maker's mark as part of their marking laws. In the US, a similar law has been around since the 1890's. However in the US there is no guild hall system or any other legal entity that oversees the process, therefore many handcrafters and students forgo a maker's mark....

Actually that is the maker's mark of Watson Co. of Attleboro, MA. Shreve, Crump & Low was the retailer.

If anything it would devalue the piece to have the maker's mark incorrectly applied (think of a pair of jeans with the lable un-side-down). It would be considered a second quality piece.
