Re: Tiffany teapot info

Most likely it was parts of a set with at least a creamer and sugar bowl, possibly a coffee, waste and tray.

Re: Makers Mark on Tilting Teapot/Coffee pot

Your pot is properly marked for the American market. Since the pot and stand are hinged together the law allows for only one mark on the item. just as the lid and spirit lamp are unmarker as it is thought they were "fitted" to the pot and stand when they were made and wouldn't "fit&qu...

Re: Dent Removal

Those dents looks small but deep, as if it hit something when dropped. The metal has been stretched into the dent and needs to be compressed to smooth the surface and match the etrernal curves. A burnisher or wooden spoon if possible) on the inside will remove the shallow dents (as seen on the right...

Re: Dent Removal

Those dents will need a pro with a snarling iron to remove them from the inside. It looks like a sugar bowl to me.

Re: What-is-it question CLXXXIV.

That is the oddest one I have ever seen. I use one like the far right bottom row, it was never gilt-lined. The base is not a bell but a weight, otherwise it would tip over from being top-heavy due to the spoons.

Trev you stumped us all, good show.

It appears to be a display stand that would have held a carved ivory or jade panel.

Re: Royal Silversmith

That would be on a list of those holding a Royal Warrent. There may be a listing at Goldsmith's Hall though I have not seen one on their website.

The royal arms may be engraved on an item made by anyone, for any reason, so its existance does not specify a royal posession.

Re: Is this brush set Gorham?

One mark is doubled, the other at too mch of an angle. A typical Gorham mark is a 3 piece stamp and this looks singular.

Re: Handling wooden handles

I use mineral oil on older pieces (pre-1900) and butcher's wax on newer pieces. I also never immerse them when cleaning.

I believe thi 92 is a mistamping of the quality mark. That ring appears to be C. the late 1960's.

Re: Sacral object

My best guess from the pictures is a tourist piece made between the wars (1920-1939) in the Middle East. It would have to be tested for metal content. The stones appear to be rose cut garnets of iffy quality and the enamel is in very rough shape. The carving was done quickly and cheaply in, most lik...
