Both of these items have a very similar "bird" mark, crescent, and loth number. I tend to think they came from the same shop.

Theodorich, these marks are almost the same as the ones i had on my ivory box.

I believe it is safe to assume that this tankard was made by the same maker as my box.

Help needed on Berlin maker

Hi, I need some help on a Berlin maker. Asseyer, if I am correct, F. J. Stoltz, 1786 - 1803. What about the maker?

Thanks Blackstone! I did a little more digging. There was a Elbing silver beaker at auction in Warsaw in 2008 - attributed to Carl Wilhelm Pröll and hallmarked with CW/P in a heart shaped cartouche. I don't have an image of the mark, but the picture of the beaker was still available. http://img40.i...

Thank you again. Is this an undocumented mark for him? Here is another one that I was able to find that is attributed to this maker.

Blackstone! I am quite impressed! Not only the mark is peculiar, but also city arms are quite creative. :) Thanks Theoderich for posting it, and Ringo thank you for finding this gem! Indeed, this mark can compete for the top spot in the most bizarre silver marks contest.

Bahner, I am 99% sure this is not Hanau made piece. Again, I do not claim to be an expert, but during last 15 years I have handled many Hanau and old German silver pieces. This one I am putting in the old silver drawer. :)

Thanks, but I was sure that the letter A was started at the beginning of XVIII century. Was I wrong?

Thanks. Salt cellar is the first thing that comes to mind, but I was hoping that there may be some significance to the three figures. After all, it may be just a decoration.
There is only Augsburg city mark, no makers mark. If I am correct this will date to early XVIII century.

Old Augsburg Dish / Salt Cellar? What is it.

I picked up today an old Augsburg small dish with three figural mounts of a man, woman, and a boy. It looks like a salt cellar, but I have a feeling that original purpose was different. Any idea what was this used for. Thank you! http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/9726/img0465mnl.jpg http://img110.ima...

Thank you! Indeed, they are too thin to be used as citrus spoons. As Blackstone noted these are interesting shape for a tea spoon.

This is the only image I have. I am including the same image but resized. I am not sure about the letters. They may be written in old Cyrillic script. I can barely read Cyrillic, but this seem to be written in cursive, which makes it even more difficult. First letter seems to be "T", one b...

12 mark - help needed with the country/region of origin

I came across a "12" mark with a maker's mark that i cannot identify. My guess is that it will be Ukraine or Lithuania, but I am not certain. Any help?

Thanks Jakjo, when browsing through my books I spotted Schraider mark, but automatically eliminated it due to the "12" mark, but you may be right and we should not always strictly believe what we read. I spotted Schraider in two books: Lileyko "Srebra Warszawskie" lists it as ca....

This cigarette was given a gift, these are engraved signatures of most likely coworkers who presented this cigarette case to their superior or another coworker. I have seen many silver pieces (mostly cigarette cases, tankards, or boxes) with similarly engraved signatures. I cannot read any of the si...
