Re: I need help in dating this Roberts & Belk spoon

Dear Pat Thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my query. The "R&B" mark on my spoon matches the Samuel Roberts & Charles Belk mark you sent me for "Sheffield 1863....." And because my spoon also has a "Patent No", which is also quite rare, I think ...

I need help in dating this Roberts & Belk spoon

I have a Roberts and Belkin spoon. The attached photos show that it is silver plate but I can't find its date. The R & B logo doesn't seem to match any shown on the internet. For example, my letter 'B' doesn't match those shown. My spoon also has a patent number and again, I can't find anything ...

Dear Theoderich
Apologies for the late reply to your post. I've been away.
I have looked at the French marks you sent me and I can't say I was able to match any with the one on my napkin ring. But then I'm no expert in these things.

Help needed to identify silver marks on napkin rings

Hi I have two what I think are napkin rings (size = 5.5cm diam and 33cm high). They are both beautifully engraved all around (see photo). But they have the smallest silver marks I have come across. You can see these in the photo. I have managed to photo and enlarge the 3 marks but it doesn't help me...

Dear MCB Thank you for helping to confirm the Chester date letter of 1904. I'm pleased that my item query has managed to increase our knowledge of Chester date marks: i.e. (1) that Chester date letters can sometimes be turned 90 degrees; and (2) that Chester date letters in the 1901-1926 series can ...

Dear salmoned
Many thanks for your reply to my query. It was clever of you to try rotating the date mark. The 1904 date you have come up with matches the period Rolason was making silver items, so I will go along with your conclusion. Thanks again.
Kindest regards
David

I need help in dating a silver napkin ring

I need your help as I'm having great difficulty in dating a silver napkin ring. The napkin ring bears the maker’s mark (see photos): - <R.BS> into a rectangle. This means that the napkin ring was made by Rolason Brothers, Vyse St. Birmingham. The napkin ring is clearly hallmarked for Chester <lion> ...

Dear Stewart Thank you for your kind response. What you say makes sense about the connection between a 'brigg' and a 'sailing ship.' As far as the date letter <t> is concerned, I too thought 1914 a better date than 1934. But when I posted my query, the 't' on my cane just about looked like a gothic ...

I have a silver plate (there is no hallmark on it) tea box. It has a very distinctive goose on a crown makers logo and I was wondering whether anyone can tell me something about this mark, and maybe its date. I enclose two photos.
