Re: Need help identifying some hall marks

I'll take a stab - 'AS', lion passant, date letter 'v' (1895-6), anchor (on side) for Birmingham.

Re: Makers Mark S.J.

I would tend to disagree with Hose_dk. The mark appears to be as initially described. I doubt this piece will prove ascribable without further information.

Re: Northern European? Scandinavian? Spoon & Mark

Just a thought - the marks look very much like the 'SIL' mark one may find on Australian pieces or, occasionally, Irish pieces.

Re: Tiffany Sterling Year & Pattern Type Identification

I'd say the pattern was made in 1893 and the piece was made between then and 1902.

Checked further, could be Samuel Carel Hendrik Warneke, 1779 - 1807.

Re: Please help to identify this hallmarks

I believe it is supposed to be an early Dutch mark with the Amsterdam and .875 marks. Don't know about the maker or year.

No, it means it's not silver. However, it doesn't mean that it's not plated, either.

Re: Unknown object

I'll guess a card holder. With a card conveniently placed in the aperture slot, you can dispense one without looking by sliding it out and pushing your finger through the hole to release the card. Other cards are stored in the main body. Okay, it's a wild shot.

Yes, but not online. Jackson's Silver & Gold Marks of England, Scotland & Ireland, 3rd Edition has a list through 1989.

Re: Some marks on my chamberstick I am curious about...

The scratches appear to be "12 Tare", which could represent the silver content of the item.

Thanks for the resizing tip. I'd guess 600 maximum width should do the trick.

I'll bite - how did you determine that [the 'GM' stands for Gebrauchs Muster]?
