Swedish or Danish Silver Box 1694? FH mark? Ram with Flowers

Good evening. I am at a loss about this small (2 5/8” wide) hinged lidded silver box. It has a ?ram in flowers? design on the lid that is punched in from the underside; numerous soldered repairs along the edges of the bottom, and the date? 1694 engraved on the bottom with a script FH like a Danish a...

Pair Sterling Candlesticks London 1768, Maker Mark help?

This is a good pair of candlesticks, 13.5" tall, one has 4 marks as shown, with the maker obscured; the other has just the Sterling London and date mark, 1768, I believe. The maker marks website leads me to think of Jeremich King, Thomas Whipham, James Wilks, or less likely John Faux or John Ri...

French Tastevin Wine Taster, Crowned I and Crayfish, 18th C?

My elderly friend inherited her grandmother’s silver, and the boxes contained some great stuff, including these several wine tasters, or tastevin, but I am challenged by the French Marks. They seem to be 18th century, if I am reading Tardy right. We have one like this, and another four with a crowne...

One doesn't expect the 1700s all the time.

That's fine, thanks. One doesn't expect the 1700s all the time; that would be impossible. Now I can match up the maker, so that's good. Thanks!

Georgian Cup or Shot Glass Sheffield 1773? Maker RS?

I am struggling with the date on this little cup. The marks look like Sheffield Sterling 1773. The date letter is so odd that I cannot find another choice. This little cup (I am calling it a shot cup, like a shot glass - is that proper?) came with the 1733 London Mug queried a day or so ago, so it i...

Georgian Tankard or Mug London 1733 Maker? TM

I am seeking the maker for this mug, tankard, or cann (what name do folks prefer?) This vessel is 4 inches tall, 9 ozt, with some obscure marks on the thumb place of the scroll handle, beginning with M. There is a terrific coat of arms showing 3 fleur de lis in a slanted picket-fence enclosure on an...

Silver Vase Anchor Lion G -- not Gorham nor British?

http://home.earthlink.net/~amw44/HillVase1a.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~amw44/HillVase5a.jpg This silver vase is about 15" tall, and is marked "anchor, lion, G" as shown. I have it from a very good old family estate. We assume it is silverplate because I cannot ID the marks as ste...
