Hi Joho, indeed dolphin mark, ungaranteed mark with export key. Pseudo marks: VB pseudo maker's mark, pseudo year letter I (?). The maker's mark unclear but perhaps RS above 2 in a square shield, if so, for Rinze Jans Spaanstra, registered in Drachten, Wommels, Berlicum and Nijehaske, 1864/1896. Ple...

Re: Dutch? 18th century Fork

Hi, share your opinion. Dutch, maker's mark only.IP or IB gives too many names of possible makers. Just left home without access to my library. If needed will check after the 28th April some possible candidates of Dutch town silver guilds. It will be difficult.

Best,

Hi,

Nothing to do with Dutch (hall)marks. Are you sure it is silver and not silver-plated?

Re: Silver (plated?) Bottle

Your welcome. Just Google Jan Francis Schutjes and you will find some of the pewter items made by him, including auction results. You have a good looking hot water bottle made by a well known maker. Not rare but very nice and a true antique.

Re: Dutch Spoon gelegenheidslepel

In the book Nederlands klein zilver 1650-1880 by B.W.G Wttewaal on page 284 it 's mentioned ; for 17th-18th century decorative/ornamental spoons, the weight should be 2 to 3 g per cm. False spoons are often too heavy.
