Correction photo of shield

In looking again at the teapot, I realized that I posted a photo of what must be some kind of monogram and not the shield, which is on the reverse side of the monogram. As it's an American teapot, I'm thinking there can't be too many families with "shields" but then again, I'm no expert. H...

Unknown Birmingham Maker, not that old

Hello Everyone and Thanks for Looking! We have a set of forks [cold meat, I think] that are from Birmingham and not so old [1915, if I'm reading the date stamp correctly], but haven't been able to identify the maker ... looked in both the main link on the home page and in the updates... I don't know...

P.S. About the unicorn...

Does anyone think the unicorn's horn was "accidentally" bent ... seems to me if it were sticking straight up initially, it would have poked people ... anyone??

Thanks!

Gorham teapot?

It's me again ... so many lots of silver, so little knowledge.... ;0) A donated teapot, which appears to be Gorham, but there are other marks on the base which I don't understand. Not stamped coin or sterling ... anyone with any insights, please share! Thank you sincerely, Susan http://www.putfile.c...

Mystery Pattern by Whiting -- Any Guesses?

Hello! Have a pair of bon bon spoons by Whiting, one in the Imperial Queen pattern and the other?? Maybe this will be a fun thing or maybe someone out there already knows what it is, but it would be nice if we knew what the pattern on the other spoon is.... Thanks in advance!! Thanks! :0)

Thank you, Kit and Patrick for your efforts on our behalf!

I think with these kinds of things, it's probably easiest just to be grateful it's sterling and a pretty piece and let it go at that....

Thanks again...

Checked, but no luck

Hello, I've checked all the sources where I know to look and haven't seen anything like this maker's mark, but I think it's safe to say it's American, since it has "sterling" and not a lion, etc. There are so many people on these forums far more knowledgeable than I am, perhaps one of them...

Hello,

The thumbnail you included among the 3 photos collaged together looks like it has the maker's mark, date, etc., but is too blurry for me to read ... I think you'd have better luck here if you could furnish a better shot of that particular area...

Is there any way to date this?

Hello, Everyone... We have a couple of pieces of Wallace sterling that have no date stamps that we can find ... is there any way to date the pieces without a date stamp? I know that Wallace has had several different company stamps, but haven't actually seen a date range for any of them except the ra...

Thank You!

Dear Tom and Pat, Thank you both very much for the input ... I did look at everything I could find online to help us determine the type of silver, but as Tom pointed out, I discovered that this set fell into a sort of "blank space" for Gorham until they switched over to date stamping in 18...

Fish set: sterling or coin? Date??

Yeah! It's terrific to have the forums open again!! Thank You, Tom and Admin for your dedication and perseverance! We have a fish set that is made by Gorham, has no date stamp and isn't stamped either 925 or Sterling ... it's in the Grecian pattern [1861] and so "should" be stamped, if st...

Hello again... It occurs to me that it might be helpful if I submitted a photo of these makers' marks for the British hallmarks page, since they aren't on the current page, but I don't know their date of registry. How did you know their marks? I posted another earlier request for help that had the m...

Strange arrangement of marks for London sterling, need help

We have a set of spoons that we can easily read the London sterling mark and the date stamp, but can't find the makers on the British hallmarks pages [looked through all cities just to be sure]. The marks differ slightly from spoon to spoon, so I've included 2 different views of the marks and a sing...
