Re: Vienna Silversmith?

STERN: Probably Michael Stern, a silversmith who also participated in the partnership company "Triesch Stern & Duschnitz" with Josef Triesch (foundation 1857, dissolution 1862).

Re: Wine coaster, Rothschild?

Thank you for your comment. I didn't notice there are only four arrows and indeed the coat of arms of the Rothschild family should have five arrows. So, I had a look at this sauceboat with the coat of arms of the Rothschild family. The sauceboat (with an inner boat) has the Paris mark Odiot (and als...

Hi,

This is not a miniature stand. It's a salt.

Re: Anthropomorphic spoon 2

Hi,

There is no mark of Habsburg as far as I know. There are cities like Libau in Habsburg that have their own mark. The supposed citymark on the spoon looks like the mark of Augsburg, but it is probably a fantasy mark.

Wine coaster, Rothschild?

Hi, This wine coaster is of heavy quality. Maker mark: Robert Garrard II (Grimwade 2322). London K = 1865. It bears the middle part of the coat of arms of the Rothschild family on both sides (mostly cast). On other pieces with the Rothschild family crest I have seen, there are the leopard/lion &...

Re: Viennese silver 1840s Maker "FS"

Hi,

Wiener Silber page 157 (not page 158) shows maker "FS" in a retangular field from this period. But there are more makers with FS. More photo's of mark FS on the other objects could probably clear the question.

Hi, Hereby additional photo's. Th top picture is the ZII (Dutch later hallmark) on the rim. The 2e and 3e pictures are details of the underside of the upper half of the sprinkler. The silver is worn in the right way (my view). Country and age unknown. Any idea is welcome. Regards, Zilverik https://w...

Re: Anthropomorphic spoon 2

Hi,

Probably a fantasy makersmark. Looks like AS to me. The way the "A" and "S" are formed looks like mark 794, page 800 Seling/Beck.

Hello,

The second photo shows the mastermark. With a close-up photo it is probably possible to identify him.

Hi,

Noteworthy is that the French maker "O sign B" (around 1798/1809) is not known in my books. All the marks in this post are clear and yet the master stays unknown? How is that possible?

Re: French 18th beaker

Hi,

The "A" is not the A starting 18 july 1764. See: La dadation de l'orfevrery parisienne sous l'ancien regime, Paris musees 1995.
I don't think it is French. The A could also be a town mark. For example Abo, Finland has a horizontal bar above the A.

Re: 18th century 1728 Paris Wine Taster (taste vin) - unknow

Hi,

Hard to say, but maybe Pierre Loyseau.
Henri Nocq, page 158: Fleur de lys couronne, P L, un oiseau et deux grains.
Jacques Helft, Les Grands Orfevres de Louis XIII a Charles X, page 325, number 301 (page 320).
Pierre Loyseau became a Paris master in 1712. So that could fit.

I am happy with that name. Looked at other works of Gaston Bardies and what I found is of very good quality.

Re: Bowl on foot. Kassel.

Hi Theoderich, Isaak Beaucair started as a student after George Schmidt passed away. So, the combination of the town mark from his time with the mastermark of Beaucair is very strange. So the marks point to forgery. I think I do best to have the silver content examined whether this bowl is from thos...

Unknown marks on a small vase

Hi, This small vase is only 9,2 cm (3,6 inches) tall. The porcelain is marked underneath with a mark I don't know. The upper- and underrim are silver gilt, marked with the small French mark (around 1900). The upper rim has an Austrian-Hungarian importmark (1901-1921) and the (very small) makers mark...

Re: Bowl on foot. Kassel.

Hi, Now, having put on questions about non-matching years, It is plausible that this bowl is a forgery. However, for me the bowl looks and feels good. So I had a better look at the marks. The mastermark IB looks O.K. to me. Please have a look at the better photos (the last one is the underside of the...
