Re: French Saucepan - Maker ???

Hello, The mark on the right has the contour of the French mark for "Departements" .950 silver starting august 16 1819 till may 10 1838 (till the minerve). The makersmark could be an A, but also a V. The fact that there is a minervemark as well does not mean that the saucepan was made afte...

Re: Mystery Paris maker in 1708?

I just found a post from Wayan (Fr may 13, 2011): "Louis XV or Hanau" that answers the most of my questions. This is not 18e century. It is French and very well made in the LIV style. I guess late 19e century. The coupe of Wayan carry exactly the same false marks. I wonder who the very goo...

Re: Louis XV or Hanau?

Hello Wayan, The marks you show are exactly the same as the marks on my box witch I posted recently (Mystery Paris maker in 1708?). I already had my doubts and now I am sure. This is not 18e century. It is probably a copy, like my box. Maybe late 19e century? Like my box it looks very well made in t...

Re: Gilded coffeespoons/sugartong

The 800 mark was used a lot in Belgium. It is not surprising to me.

Re: I need help with this hallmark

Hi,

There is no bird as you mention. It is the French swine hallmark for .800 silver starting in 1838 (1,25 x 1,75 mm). The makersmark is not clear to me. Maybe with a better photo?

Mystery Paris maker in 1708?

My books are not sufficient for this master. The master is: G M under a fleur de lis (uncrowned!), two grains, cross (or fleur de lis?). Further there is: A = Paris, crowned P = 1708/mid 1709. If the fleur de lis had been crowned, the the maker could be: Gregoire - Nicolas - Rene Masse (Beuque nr. 6...
