Re: Bowl on foot. Kassel.

That is an explanation, but I don't fully understand. Probably Junck had already paid the taxes (otherwise there was no town mark). For Beaucair to put his mark in place of Juncks mark, provides Beaucair a tax benefit? What a tax rule could that be?

Re: Henin & Cie Pattern with a cast monogram NB

Hi,

Does not look like hotelware to me. On the photo the marks are fuzzy, but looks indeed as good solid French silver with owners initials.

Re: Heavy chamberstick with lots of unknown marks

Hi, Yes, very likely an "old marriage". The elevated central part I like especially with candlesticks. Chamber sticks I like more with a thread. When all parts are hard soldered together, there is less to see and less to examine. Who would bother to search for them? I do. Nine examples. In...

Re: Heavy chamberstick with lots of unknown marks

Hi AG2012, You are right. This chamber stick has features of a marriage (parts that originally didn't belong together). And: to many marks on the saucer: three up and three under. No marks on any other part. So no mark on the nozzle, not on the snuffer, not on the handle. Two out of three marks unde...

Re: Heavy chamberstick with lots of unknown marks

I think so to. Thank you Trev.
Remains the other marks on top of the platter. Maybe import marks. I looked at Irish import marks, but that's probably wrong.

Re: Heavy chamberstick with lots of unknown marks

Hi, One step at a time. Malta is getting getting closer. The crowned M on the chamber stick is probably the crowned M used between 1775 and 1797. That is within the period that Gio. Carlo Cassar worked there. See Trev's quote. Regards, Zilverik JOSEPH LEBRUN http://www.925-1000.com/td/f/Malta/Lebrun...

Re: Heavy chamberstick with lots of unknown marks

Hi, On the forum, I found maker GCC. See: http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=33204&start=20&hilit=gcc Gio. Carlo Cassar, a Maltese master starting 1774. Even if the mark GCC looks alike, what about the other marks on the chamber stick? Could there be a fit? Regards, Zilve...

Yes, the assayers mark is the "D". But what could the 3e photo in the top mean?

Hi Qrt.S,

I didn't know that the book "Verzeichnis..." was outdated.
So, I admit you are right. My added argument doesn't stand. Indeed anyway, still an "odd" case.

Re: Russian beaker

Hi, Indeed a sort of odd case. And yes, other members had the same opinion that the charka's are probably not 18e century. I only added an argument. I don't agree with your idea that Kusmin (Not: this is probably not the mark of Kusmin) could have worked somewhat longer and that it is possible that ...

Re: Identification of marks

Hi, As far as I can see is the same cross (in the same shield) found in Tardy dated as late 18e century. In "Argenti italiani dell'800" from V.Donaver-R.Dabbene (vol. 1, page 163 and 164), I read that the mark was used in different towns between 1860 and 1872. So, I don't understand. Do I ...

Re: Swiss beaker

Hi,

Nice beaker.
Most of the work of Hans Jacob Fries I that is mentioned in this book is dated late 17e century. Only two pieces are dated "around" 1700. No work is mentioned as early 18e century. So, probably late 17e century.

Hi, The assayer mark "AK" on the second charka raises even more questions in combination with "51". In 1751 Iwan Schagin was assayer. AK could be Anisim Kusmin, but his period was 1741-1748. Another assayer "AK" in that period in Moscow I wasn't able to find. And the ph...

Re: unknown mark on Breslau rat-tail spoon

Hi,

Could the supposed "G" be a "C"? In that case the C should stand for the period 11.1727 - 10.1737 (according to the Breslau Silver Marks from 1539 to 1945 by Wojtek Mencel).
