Sounds like they might be fantasy or pseudo marks from Hanau, Germany or the Netherlands. Try to post pictures of the piece and the marks.

The marks are Theodor Olsens of Bergen, the company is still in business, and continues to use a similar trademark, the one in the shield is different from the many different Olsens marks I've seen, but the key to their mark is that "crown" of intersecting lines. Can't say that I'm familiar with the...

The mark is the Meriden Brittania griffin, also used by International Silver after acquiring Meriden. I've seen the mark on pieces made well into the 1940s, would guess that yours was new in 1947.

The mark (used on medium grade plate) on your piece is for Wm. A. Rogers, Ltd., became part of Oneida in 1929. Would suggest Rainwater's Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers as your next book (I prefer the 4th revised to the newer 5th). Always helps narrow down pattern identification if you...

According to Rainwater: "Anthony Rasch was born about 1780 near Passau, Bavaria, where he learned the trade of silversmithing and goldsmithing. Sometime between 1801 and 1803 he came to Philadelphia, where he worked for a time with Simon Chaudron, and later by himself. He was also briefly assoc...

Lovely set! It was made by William. B. Durgin of Concord, NH. They were founded in 1853, acquired by Gorham in 1906 or'07, moved to Providence, RI in 1931, not sure how long they operated as a subsidiary of Gorham. Believe that it's a fairly early Durgin mark, I've only run across it on a few mid to...

Your piece is by Concord Silversmiths of Concord, NH. Founded in 1925, taken over by Ellmore Silver of Meriden, CT somewhere in the late '30s to mid '40s, not sure how long they continued to use the Concord mark. Ellmore Silver was out of business by 1960. The center mark is the silhouette of a pers...

Made by Daniel & Arter Globe Nevada Silver Silver Works of Birmingham, England. They used all sorts of pseudo-hallmarks and "silver" marks (Nevada Silver, Burmaroid, Aluminum Silver, etc.) for their various metal alloys (no real silver) and silverplated pieces.

Lovely piece! It's Danish silver, at least 826/1000 fineness, the three-tower assay mark indicates that it was assayed either in 1891 or 1901 (looks like 91 to me), the entwined "SG" in the oval cartouche is the mark of the assay-master Simon Groth (in office from 1863-1904), the "AR"(?) would be yo...

The "F" was used from 1867 to 1904, wait until you run across one of the odd looking symbols that the British assay offices started using on imports (replacing the regular town marks), they also started adding "925" in an oval cartouche at the same time. I'm guessing that D-A exported quite a bit of...
