Lovely piece! The löthige or lödig system was used in much of northern Europe, including the German states, Austro-Hungarian Empire (including Poland and Czechoslovakia), and the Scandinavian countries. I've seen similar loth marks on 18th-19th century Norwegian pieces. 12 loth would correspond to...

It was originally the mark for Simpson, Hall, Miller & Co. of Wallingford, CT that became part of International Silver in 1898, the mark was used well into the 20th century by International. The style of your piece is one of International's Scandinavian-inspired designs that they produced throug...

Forbes Silver Co. of Meriden, CT., part of Meriden Britannia, one of the original companies to form International Silver. Never have figured out the "K", guessing that perhaps the mark was from another company acquired by Meriden/Forbes and they continued it's use.

Your buckle is Native American made, in the silver overlay technique. Most likely Hopi rather than Navajo, "MC" would be the maker's initials and the bear-paw probably the clan mark. Lovely piece.

Silverplate, can remember these being sold in department stores and gift shops in the 1970s-80s. Believe the company is still in business, but based somewhere else (Michigan?).

It's a Guernsey cream jug, though sometimes the spouted ones are called Jersey cream jugs. Electroplated nickel silver made by Barker Bros. of Birmingham, England.

Hi Myriam,

I speak and read a bit of French, enough to understand your response, but would you mind translating your answer to this question so that the English speaking participants could benefit from your knowledge?

Thanks so much,

Would guess your piece is Italian, several city coats of arms are represented: the fleur-de-lis for Florence, the crossed keys and Papal crown over the angel for the Vatican City, the rampant bull for Turin, and the shield with six balls is for the Medici family. The others look familiar but can't s...

My mother owns a simple silver band that was fashioned from a British coin and enough of the details from the coin were left intact that I was able to identify it. Sounds like you have a similar piece.

Offering a third opinion, (wev and waylander are not the same person), would have to agree, this appears to be a silverplate tray made by Ellis & Co. of Birmingham, who joined with Barker Bros. in 1931 to form Ellis-Barker, later a division of Towle. Respected references show similar menorah mar...

From 1867-1904 silver items imported into Britain simply had an F-in-circle mark added to the regular marks. From 1904 to present, the fineness (.925 on yours) was stamped along with the date mark and the town mark with a symbol differing from the one used on British-made pieces and always in an ova...

The photos are a bit fuzzy, but the town mark on the British import marks looks more like Chester to me, perhaps this is the 1913 Chester "N"? I've handled quite a few pseudo-marked Dutch pieces with British import marks from the late 19th/early 20th century.
