Garrards Georgian sterling chamberstick - date?

I can't believe my good luck if I am reading these marks correctly as 1824. Can someone confirm for me? The weight of this is close to 1 lb! What does the engraving mean if anything? Thanks! http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1201/4557023/24500655/411991090.jpg http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1201/45...

Vanity jar lid question

I have had many of these and all of them were marked. I can't find marks on this other than the numbers 45 and 37 which I imagine are the style numbers. I am positive this is sterling but I could be wrong. I know it should be marked if it is sterling. Can this be plated? The quality seems too good t...

Here's a photo of the base after light cleaning. It's vermeil, matte and shiny silver.

800 Silver Tazza - Which country?

Wondering what country this might be from? Marks shown. Thanks! http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1201/4557023/24500655/411933934.jpg http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1201/4557023/24500655/411933935.jpg http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1201/4557023/24500655/411933936.jpg

Ha! I did say I like to pretend! And, by the way, most Americans are not well versed about European Royalty so it really doesn't matter at all!

c1853 Prague Snuff Box

I've had this for a long time and was just curious if there was any way to pin down the maker. It is city Prague, with Austrian mark for 1853 and maker HG. The only reference I could find for these initials and date is Heinrich Gudehus. Any other possibilities? With the crown engraved, I like to pre...

Re: Austrian Fork .800 or .950?

It came from an Estate Sale in NY, USA! Ok, still want to know age. From reading the forums, I conclude it is Franz Bibus. Correct?

Austrian Fork .800 or .950?

Not exactly clear when researching the Austrian marks here. Is it 800 or 950? And how old is it? What is the middle mark? Is FB the maker? Thanks! http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1201/4557023/24500655/411689617.jpg http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1201/4557023/24500655/411689616.jpg

Thanks. I will just assume it is silver plated and Victorian but not necessarily OSP.

Re: Could this be Old Sheffield Plate?

Thanks so much! I think your explanation of a re-strike is possible. I found this additional mark which looks like a stamped number. Does this have any meaning as far as dating this? It looks like 401?

Could this be Old Sheffield Plate?

This silver plated swing arm basket is lacking any marks except for a tiny cryptic mark that looks like a flower? I check Bradbury's and this site but could not identify the mark -- if it is a mark! The mark I am referring to is shown in the last photo at the 11 o'clock position. If not OSP, when wo...
