Re: Russian napkin rings – trompe-l'oeil

Dear Mart, dear Qrt.S! What a pity! You were not "in tune" at the end of my article. The inscription on a cigarette case by Karl Werlin could lead to a nice conclusion: "What holds us together is the power of tones." https://i.postimg.cc/Df62Mdfd/Werlin-Karl-04b.jpg https://i.pos...

Re: Gazyr - Газырь

Thank you very much AG 2012,
this is a valid answer!

Taweez/Ta'wiz, worn by some Muslims/non-Muslims, is a medallion containing a piece of paper with verses from the Koran or other Islamic prayers.
Some Muslims wear it around their necks to protect themselves from harm.

Thanks Qrt.S, the Cyrillic script is indeed not easy to read. I photographed the punches again. a) KИK and "PL No. 3177" are better to see. https://i.postimg.cc/ykVPybVc/IMG-8643.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/VJvW300N/IMG-8648.jpg b) https://i.postimg.cc/vgF7gPq1/IMG-8651.jpg Regards Silverstone

Re: Captain´s spoon Pernau

Hi, this captain's spoon bears the name of the merchant-house "Mitchell & CO." I have never seen a spoon labeled "Mitchell & Co." in the forum. The firm was listed on "LLoyd's Register of shipping 1881", p. XXII https://i.postimg.cc/f3f5RtdX/IMG-8633.jpg https:/...

Hi AG2012,

belt: diameter 4 cm = 1,57 in - 14 grams
cuff: diameter 4,5 cm = 1,73 in - 43 grams

I am sure, my two objekts are napkin rings.
Both have a monogram.
