Peculiar markings on 925 icon

So I recently purchased an icon online, which came today. On the front, it is marked "Guerrini" as the maker, "925" as the purity, and star, 24 (?), and AN, in another stamp. So far so good. Based on the info from this site, the star indicates the Italian national mark; the 24 (?...

I don’t know the specific reason that R&C went out of business, but the time leading up to WW I, and then the war years saw many, many silver manufacturing companies go under in France.
Regards.

Ah yes, WWI would explain it. Very tragic and unfortunate.

Thank you.

Strange hallmarks that I've never seen before

Has anyone ever seen these marks before? Pseudo-marks? Silver-plate? Hanau?

These are found on some spoons I'm interested in buying. Do the marks indicate sterling?

Thank you in advance!

Re: French 950 mustard pot

Thank you! Wow, since this maker was active from 1897 to 1912, that makes this item over 100 years old, which is amazing. Any idea why they were only in business for 15 years or so?

French 950 mustard pot

I just bought a French sterling mustard pot online. Please see the images below. It has the 950 Minerva mark, I believe, but the maker's mark is partially worn off. Can someone please help me decipher this? Thanks in advance. https://i.ibb.co/6Y5gnhd/s-l1600.jpg https://i.ibb.co/HtPH7JF/s-l1601.jpg ...

Re: Is Cassetti a famous brand?

Hi, When the spoon arrives, can you let us know the numbers and letters contained within the star mark? Trev. This is the best image I could take with my phone. Didn't come out so great, unfortunately. I think it says 55 and then another number that I couldn't quite make out. Hope this helps. https...

1908 Towle sterling tea set 7622

Well, I just bought this Towle sterling tea set today on impulse, thinking it would be a good gift for my parents for Christmas and my dad's birthday. I can safely say that this is the most expensive silver item I've ever bought, but my parents have done a lot for us, so I wanted this to be a token ...

Is Cassetti a famous brand?

I recently bought this 925 spoon made by Cassetti. It also has the name "Fatto A Mano" on it. Is that the name of the silversmith? Anyone know if this was made in Italy or the US? Here's an image. Thanks in advance!

Great, thank you! I made the purchase earlier. It's the second piece of English sterling I own now. Well, when I receive it, anyways. Cheers!

Do these marks mean sterling?

The seller says this is plated, but looking at these marks, they look sterling. If I'm reading them correctly, they say Sterling, London, 1897. But before I commit to purchasing it in a few hours, I wanted to run this by the experts. Thanks in advance! https://i.ibb.co/SVzC8xd/s-l1600.jpg

Am I reading this Sheffield mark correctly?

Hello, I just won these items at an online auction. These are the very first British items that I have ever owned (or will own very soon). That said, I'm not that familiar with British marks. Based on my research with this site's hallmark library, I feel like I can reasonably ascertain that these it...

"Bangkoksia" mark on Thai niello bracelet

I recently purchased a Thai niello bracelet, with an interesting maker's mark that I cannot find any information on. On the inside of the bracelet, it is marked: STERLING95 BANGKOKSIA A few questions I was hoping to get some answers on: ⋅ Does anyone know of the maker BANGKOKSIA? I couldn'...

Re: Dragon Ring?? Please Translate! Thank You!

The third image has the Chinese characters 纹银, which means sterling silver, or textured silver. The textured part comes from the fact that this is a characteristic exhibited by high quality silver. In contemporary terms, that's 92.5% silver. During the Ming dynasty, it denoted 98% silver; during the...

Does this Cartier mark look genuine?

I just purchased a Cartier Paul Revere reproduction bowl online, I'm wondering the possibility of it being fake. I've included a couple of images below. Any insights would be appreciated. Re: First experience with old Danish silver

Wow, thanks, all! This is great info. Based on the links that AG2012 provided, can I safely assume that this is at least 82.6% silver, since there is the mark of 3 towers, but no purity mark?

I'll see if I can provide a better image of the 3 towers.

First experience with old Danish silver

I recently purchased this Danish spoon online. The description says it's Danish (Copenhagen), but I have no experience with old Danish silver. I have purchased more recent Danish pieces that say sterling on the item; however, this is the first one that I've encountered that has the 3 towers. I belie...

Hallmark on sugar shaker

Does anyone know which hallmark this is? It looks like a little balance. Also, it says "STERLING 990." Does that mean it's 99% fine silver? Also, it seems there's quite a bit of tarnish on the shaker. Does it look real? Thank you in advance! https://sgwmscdnimages.azureedge.net/181/9-14-20...
