Scandinavian (?) hallmark on necklace

Well, I'm really stumped on this one. I bought this odd-looking necklace as part of a sterling silver lot. The letters in the hallmark don't even look like English, even though I bought it in America. To me, they look kind of Scandinavian, but I could be completely off base. Here're a couple of imag...

Re: Turkish hallmark on pair of earrings

Hi, Filigree work; twisted silver wire bent to various patterns, arranged on fire resistant surface, embelished with small granules, rhombes and other small particles of silver, then sprayed with silver solder mixed with flux, then fired with jeweler torch until solder melts and fixes everything. Th...

Turkish hallmark on pair of earrings

I recently purchased a pair of sterling silver earrings. On the back of each is marked "Turkey," "B" inside a circle, and then "925". I've attached the images below. These look pretty old, but I have no idea on provenance, or whether these are really from Turkey, though...

When a "silver" knife says "STERLING HANDLE"

So, I recently purchased a set of (used) sterling flatware, and a knife also came with the lot. The blade of the knife says stainless steel on it, but the handle says "STERLING HANDLE." Now I know normally supposedly sterling knives have packed handles, and the actual silver weight is not ...

Thank you. Here's an image of the mark. Or is the "A" the hallmark?

RB Mexico sterling bracelet

Does anyone know anything about this hallmark? I recently purchased this item online. Images are below. Is it a Mexican hallmark? Thanks in advance! https://sgwmscdnimages.azureedge.net/181/7-16-2021/242174516132152wsam.JPG https://sgwmscdnimages.azureedge.net/181/7-16-2021/609931716132150wsam.JPG

Does 925A mean high-end British silver?

I recently purchased a small item (pin/pendant) with a "925A" mark, but no hallmark. I looked online, and it seems that 925A denotes higher-end British silver? Is that still true now, especially in America? I assume this is an American piece, though. An image of the item is below. Thanks. ...

Re: Is this silver?

Sorry for the delay - I just received the item on Sunday. I was able to take a higher-res picture, though it's still not coming out too clear. In any case, here it is. I'm pretty sure the 3 figurines are sterling, but the ribbons look like copper? https://i.ibb.co/sPXD0L6/IMG-7127.jpg

Re: Faded hallmark on OLD porringer

Companies routinely change marks over time, but you have the lion's hindquarters and the block-style "E" to the left. The stock numbers (item/pattern/catalogue/etc.) can also be altered or a slight difference may relate to size or details. [BTW..we are not allowed to post direct links to ...

Re: Faded hallmark on OLD porringer

A cleanup of marks would help, but maybe try comparing to Ellmore Silver Co. mark #1: https://www.925-1000.com/americansilver_E.html Thank you for the reply. I suspected Ellmore, and found one on whose design looked almost identical. Even the number "1573" was similar to "1583."...

Faded hallmark on OLD porringer

I recently purchased an antique porringer (still being delivered). It looked very old, with the silver looking almost black. It had the words "STERLING 1583" on it. I'm not sure if it was made in 1583, but it certainly looks old/tarnished enough to be. There's an animal above those words t...

Is this silver?

I recently purchased these items below. As you can see, there is a piece with 3 connected figurines. On each of those figurines, there is a ribbon that's of a different color. I'm having a hard time figuring out whether those brown ribbons are also made of silver. On the back of the piece, it says s...

Sterling silver weight of pendant

I just purchased this Jesus pendant online today. I've confirmed with the seller that it's all sterling silver, except it has 31 0.29mm simulated stones. Is there a way to figure out the sterling silver weight of this pendant? The total weight is 60.68 grams (including the stones). I can't really ta...

Re: First silver purchase ever - Antaya Sterling

Thank you for the replies. I reached back out to the (reputable) seller, and they confirmed that they did testing on the crucifix, and it tested sterling. I also checked the side of the crucifix again as another posted pointed out, and it does say sterling, which the seller also confirmed. It was pr...

Re: First silver purchase ever - Antaya Sterling

Thank you for all the responses. Is there a way I can check the silver content of the crucifix at home? I unfortunately do not have the machines or nitric acid. Would rubbing it with a wet piece of cloth be okay (or help)?

First silver purchase ever - Antaya Sterling

Hello, I made my first silver purchase ever a couple of days ago. It was an online auction, and I just wanted to find out a little more about the piece. I'm also planning to expand my silver collection after this, or start one rather. In any case, it's an Antaya rosary piece that's supposedly sterli...
