Re: Unidentified german maker

I think there are only two possible makers: Otto Hintze, Hamburg or Otto Wolter, Schwäbisch Gmünd. The shape of the chalice resembles more that one of Otto Wolter.

Re: Probably French

it is German, exported to Russia, produced since 1900 by Koch & Bergfeld, Bremen and designed by Hugo Leven, model no. 25600, also called "Bremer Lilie". There is no maker's mark. The standing bear, often discussed in this forum, is supposed to be the mark for silver 875 (like in Switz...

Plated cup of unknown origin

This cup which I think is plated has marks which shall look English but are not. The marks show from left to right: a cup, an S, a hand. Does anybody have an idea about the maker? Regards silverfan https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg

Re: BerrySpoon London 1806

Hallo Phil, thank you very much for your quick answer. I wonder why I had not the idea that the maker's mark is upside down. I did some research here in the forum (i.e. posts by buckler) and found besides Thomas Wallis II two further candidates with similar marks Thomas Whipham son (died 1815) and T...

BerrySpoon London 1806

This Berry Spoon from London 1806 bears a Maker's mark which i couldn't identify up to now. It is a M and another letter which is not legible. Does anybody know the maker. Regards silverfan https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg

The letter V is the mark of court supplier Vollgold in Berlin, around 1909 taken over by Koch & Bergfeld, Bremen.

Re: Has anyone ever seen these hallmarks?

I did not find a maker M & C in my books for silver after 1884 in Germany. With much phantasy the figure could be the arms of Munich the "Münchner Kindl", but I found nothing in Munich. The number 60 I suppose to be the thickness of plating.

Re: Marks on flatware

Turin was the capital of the Kingdom of Savoia. The mark on the right is not a French Import mark. For further clarification I recommend to ask member amena who has special knowledge in Italian silver.

Re: Marks on flatware

The mark in the middle is Italy, Turin late 18th century 950/1000 fineness (I think already under French influence) what shows the mark on the left too, which I cannot identify. Tardy shows on page 293 a mark which looks very similar to that one on the right, telling that it was introduced in 1935 f...

I am rather sure that it is Schneider, because I already rather often saw this mark with the worn S. The cartouch is not different. Besides there is no other possibility.
