Re: Is this the boars head?

Thank you. Being on both sides I can't think its an error.
Theres no makers mark but the one side of the locket on the front part is marked LR for Louis Armand Rault. It looks like his coins (has goddesses on it) and its bout 4.3 cm.

Re: Is this the boars head?

I have 3 items with it on there, this being the third. this mark is on both sides of the bail. The brooch I have when you look through a loupe you can see something that kinda resembles a boar. This and the other its just a black hole so to speak. Thank you in advance. It’s a pendant btw https://i....

Re: F & B Gilt Sterling

Thank you all both so very much.
Yes I'm pretty sure I believe it's legit F&B. I wasn't sure if it's considered standard to mark silver gilt as "sterling silver". It's their only gilt locket I can find that's also marked "sterling".

F & B Gilt Sterling

I have a locket from F & B coming that I ordered. It dawned on me after the fact a question..... It's hallmarked F & B with the flag and "sterling". However it's def gilt gold. Is it safe to assume it's sterling under the gold, or was the F & B Sterling hallmark standard, somet...

Re: Question about acid testing and color results

I purchased a collar necklace online. seller swore it was acid tested and silver. I tested the inside of the links and it turns bright blue. I told the seller and the seller is now insisting its' b/c they are "oxidized". I believe the item is silver plated. So my question is is there any ...

This chain

Now can you please tell me about this chain. I've not seen one quite like it. Hallmarked sterling.
What would be the approximate age of this chain? What is this type of chain called?

Re: Unger Brooch

Thanks. As I've been trying to learn more and more and studying types of silver fakes. Am I correct that this is a piece that is most likely fake?

Re: Unger Brooch

Almost every fake Unger bros piece I have seen is made via Electroforming, it's fast and cheap and usually pretty obvious. thank you both for the replies. I was reading about electro forming. My brooch does not appear to be made in that way correct? I'm looking at acquiring a locket now so trying t...

Re: Unger Brooch

I was told to watch for solder balls and all that Re the lack of detail, for ex look at my brooch on the top left. There are no details of the silver beads. I believe they were, however worn away from holding as this i is where it'd be held. I inspected it closely and i'm unsure how (if it is a fake...

Re: Unger Brooch

I've seen a # of "lovers dream" items that look like cheap replicas to me. Some not marked, others with the wrong bail for a locket. That would explain the large #s of that pattern (the steel dye and needing large # to produce fakes)

Re: Unger Brooch

Anyway, I was told b/c of the way the vent holes are it's likely a fake? I see nothing wrong with vent holes. The brooch is made of two halves;the front is die stamped and soldered to the back, meaning the brooch is hollow. Without vent holes it would explode when hard soldered under high temperatur...

Re: Please ID this Locket Hallmarks?

That actually is the inner section of the locket... is that what you mean?
I have asked for pics of the back as I realize there were no pics in the auction. I think perhaps there might be more there also.
This is in the inside front piece.

Re: Unger Brooch

Now, I've only found 2 examples of brooches in this model online. This is NOT MINE, but one that was previously sold from another online seller. The back is identical, even the mark. https://i.postimg.cc/wMQ2z8M3/Unger-Brooch-Not-Abbys.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/tC9D5Tv6/Ungerbroochnotabbys1.jpg https...
