It's Shefield, not London. Marks from left to right: Coronation mark (Elizabeth II), crown is the town mark for Sheffield, lion passant (sterling silver), date letter L for 1953 (hence the coronation mark) and the makers' mark for John Sanderson & Son Ltd. Thank you. Very knowledgeable and help...

The research that I have done on the characters on the bottom of the box lead me to believe that the right side is translated into 6,7,8. if that is correct then i do not know what it means. Still have been unable to figure out the mark on the left side. On the under side of the lid the same marking...
