Caroline Gleick Rosene - modernist silver

Does anyone know when modernist jewelry silversmith Caroline Gleick Rosene, born 1907 according to the very brief biographical information included with her "mark" on this site, died? Thank you.

mark: 800 in an oval + shield with AM in top half and

I just found a small, very plain, silver bowl with two tiny European hallmarks in the bottom of the bowl (not on the back, but as you look into the bowl). The first is 800 in an oval, but both the 800 and the line creating the oval are stamped in. It is not an oval depression with a raised 800. Next...

A.F.Shepard - maker or retailer?

I found a very plain, elongated fiddle shape, large spoon that is marked only A.F.Shepard. There is a very finely engraved (almost looks scratch engraved) monogram on the front of the spoon handle. The style of spoon and monogram initials look mid-19th century. My guess is that the spoon is coin sil...

Italian Hallmark circa 1944-1970

I have a small nut dish with marks I believe to be Italian for the period between 1944 and 1970. The marks are: 800 in an oval and a "cartouche" with maker's mark 40 and province mark PD or PO. There is no "fascio" in the cartouche. I have been unable to find any list of makers marks or province mar...

Thank you very much for the information. Late last night I found the triangular shaped mark for Kiel listed in my book of foreign marks, however it seems that the notched edges of my mark are much more regular than those shown in the book or in your email, plus mine definitely has a circular symbol ...

Hammer (in script) Viel. or Kiel. or Viiel. (in script)

I have a set of spoons that are marked: a triangular mark with notched edges and a circular swirl or flower or something in the center, followed by the name Hammer, in script, in a rectangular shape, followed by Viel. or Viiel. or Kiel., in script and in a rectangular shape. The last mark/name appea...
