Re: An antique (?) tankard

regarding the 2 marks at either end. Pay no attension to this. That does not mean either old or new.
In my opinnion its to good to be true. i.e. historisismus and around 120 to 150 years old.

Re: An antique (?) tankard

12 for germany
13,5 for denmark

Less than 12 is also possible for germany,
13,5 is mandatory for denmark 13,3 for Norway.
11 or less lod in Denmark must have 11 lod mark or whatever lod. I have one 7 lod spoon, clearly marked.

My guess is definitely Germany. Due to the zig zag line - I have never seen that in Denmark. But very common in Germany.
The look of item also scream Germany to me.

Re: Unknown markings on 1764 serving spoon

I've inherited this large spoon (roughly 30 cm long). The story goes that a Norwegian king gave this spoon to one of his lovers the moment she got pregnant and had to leave the kingdom to bear her bastard child. The story :-) :-) Regarding the size. Large spoons a not unusual I have norwegian and d...

Re: Unknown markings on 1764 serving spoon

no not a guess - Its him.
The 50 refers to 1750. The master should make a new stamp every year including year of manufacture.
They did not follow this to the letter. This is a good example, he has made the spoon and find a stamp suited. Giving no attention to year.

Re: Help with Identificaton

without hallmarks I would date this sop-ske at an earlier date.
So he made this in an old tradition looking backwards in time.
Old habbits and traditions live long after we would assume new style.
