Re: Sterling Silver Standards in Norway?

Re: Sterling Silver Standards in Norway?

Does it matter? 830 or 925 . did you buy to recycle the silver? The case is many Americans believe that 830 silver is plated. So you have to say its Sterling to get interest from them. So does it realy matter? I dont say that all American act this way, but enough do. I once bought a 1717 piece of fu...

Re: Italien Salt celler two pieces Empire style

Thanks
So we could expect that a number used some variation of that snake.
Would they do that in a context to use as a quality mark? (like Georg Jensen, who stopped using the official hallmark 3-towers in order to make The Georg Jensen trademark the mark of quality)

Re: Small Ash Tray or Box Origin ???

yes - they are used many places. But the blue and the red coral is very much Middle east.
However the circle is a flower also used in that area.
Without marks its impossible to locate exact. But The piece look like that origin to me.

Re: Another Toddy Ladle

The other mark is it J&Z ?

It could be that 2 pieces have been joined. Its difficult to see how much is missing. In fact it can be several cm - if your assumption is correct.
In that case its possible that year mark + silvermark (kattfot) both is lost when repaired.

Re: Another Toddy Ladle

not that difficult. Its swedish all right. Makers mark was destryed during the renovation. only a fraction of it remained. The import mark - was most likely set when the original marks was destryed. I see sct. Jørgen - the city mark of Stockholm. Going trough Stockholm makers we find Carl Petter Lam...

the s mark - one variant in Bøje is turned the wrong way. But this is only one of many. That S is proberly by Vilhelm Berg 1857 to 1937. Maker of silver to the trade. He was making silver - the next sale adds some age to his works. The marks of Fritz Albertus are many - only some of them i Bøje. And...
