Re: I.R Mark on Hollow Handle Carving Fork

Thank you for the help. There is a dot between the letters, so it would be James Roe or John Ross, leaning toward John Ross. According to the link you gave me, he shows working 1790-98. Would that make this sterling or coin?
Thanks.

I.R Mark on Hollow Handle Carving Fork

Hello, I have an 8 inch hollow handle carving fork with steel/iron tines. The handle has only one mark on it -- "I.R" with the dot centered (not near the bottom). This mark appears to be of John Roberts, but everything I have seen of him adds the "& Co" mark after the "I...

"H.CS" mark on Silverplate

I believe this hollow handle fork is silver plate. It has an extended etched bowl coming from the hollow handle. There is a maker mark on the reverse side -- I believe it reads "H.CS". Any idea as to maker or pattern? Thanks. http://tsfebay.pbworks.com/w/file/fetch/127402169/IMG_0795.JPG h...

At least 3 German cities had a key in silver marks.
Bremen and Soest separately from Loth number and Worms with Loth number within the mark, but the key was on top.
At least what I have seen.
Btw, 13 loth = 812/1000,

Hello,
Thanks for the information!

ID Help with Sterling(?) Soup Spoon

Hello, I have an 8 1/8" soup(?) spoon that may or may not be sterling. It has the feel of coin silver (thin and light weight) and two hallmarks on the reverse -- a crossed "W" with 3 dots above and 1 dot below, along with the number "13" with what looks like a key under it. ...

Strange Utensil - Gorham Lion Anchor G(?) ID help needed

Hello, I believe this odd utensil is by Gorham (lion anchor G), but am not sure. I also have no idea what the piece is. It has a sterling hollow handle with steel blade end. The tip comes to point and it looks like it's for cutting something. It measures about 4 1/2" in length and has what I th...

Re: Sterling ID Help EM?

The manufacturer was Barstow & Williams, Providence, Rhode Island 1888-1904 - their entwined 'BW' trademark is upside down in your pic, not sure I've ever seen their mark oriented the same direction as the 'Sterling' mark. With the wide bowl and short handle, looks like a bon-bon/nut spoon to m...

Sterling ID Help EM?

Hello, I recently acquired this small (3 3/4") sterling piece (sugar sifter?) and could use some help with the manufacturer. It appears to be an "E" superimposed over an "M", but this is just a guess. I have attached photos. Thanks! http://tsfebay.pbworks.com/w/file/fetch/12...

Thanks so much! Any idea what the 36 DWTS means, or how old it might be?

Thanks.

13" Silverplate Ladle ACME 36DWTS ID

Hello, I have what I believe is a silverplate 13" soup ladle. The pattern is plain on the front of the handle, and tipped on the reverse. It has 6 hallmarks: [A] {C] [M] [E] [36 DWTS] [1] I have attached photos. Any ID help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! http://tsfebay.pbworks.com/w/file...

Please help to ID silverplate knife

Hello, I recently acquired some silverplate handle knives, but they have no markings at all (that I can see). The blades have an unusual shape, though, so I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction. The knife measures 10 inches. The blade is some type of stainless steel (a magnet do...
