Unknown piece Sterling?

I am pretty sure this piece is sterling, but I can find no marks. I have looked in the typical spots -- around the neck/bolster area and on the underside of the handle (the edge along the cutting side of the blade). I have had it under a microscope and looked everywhere on the handle. There are a fe...

Serving / Place Spoon Solid Silver

If I am reading what I found on this site correctly, I believe this 8.5 inch spoon is solid .950 silver. I believe it has the Minerva stamp of 1838 to present. I also think the maker's mark -- P [some shape] Q is from Pierre Queille, 1834-1846. The unknown shape between the two letters could be a sp...

Re: KB initials over crossed hammer/mallet, unknown hallmark

Hello,

If you have not yet identified your pieces, even without photos, I am quite sure your pieces are from Krider & Biddle, Philadelphia c1860-1870.

See this page (right side):

How's that for a hint :)

Regards,
Dave

Asian silver spoon - China?

I believe this spoon is most likely silver plate because of the green spots inside the bowl and on the handle, but I am not sure. I know very little else about it. The spoon measures 6-1/4" in length. There are some faded marks on the reverse of the handle near the tip, including a 5-pointed st...

Chinese Soup Spoon 6.75"

I believe this spoon (measuring 6-3/4") is Chinese. The markings on the reverse seem to show that. My main question is silver content. I believe it is solid silver (has the feel of coin silver). Can anyone help me out? Thanks! https://i.postimg.cc/SKQw7YYL/IMG-6373.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/W4ff...

Re: Scharte Solid Silver Spoon

Thank you for the reply. I just need a little clarification on the information. I'm not sure what the first line -- "ref. W.Scheffler no 1847 #378" means. Also, I assume the first of the three dates is date of birth, and the last is date of death. Is the middle date when he began producing...

Solid Silver Russian Spoon

This is a solid silver spoon (8.5") marked with "84" and a head facing left with "AC" to the right of the head. From what I have read on this site, it is Russian, solid silver, and 84/96 pure silver (.875). There is a maker's mark, but I'm not sure how to read it. Am I corre...

Scharte Solid Silver Spoon

I believe this is a solid silver serving spoon (9.5"), marked "SCHARTE" with what looks like a lion. It has zig-zag lines, which I think were put there as a silver purity test. It also has what looks like a script "A" at the right end of the zig-zag line. I am curious as to ...

Koch und Bergfeld Norddeutscher Lloyd Knife

Hello, I found out some things regarding this knife, which I believe is silverplate. It is stamped "NORDDEUTSCHER LLOYD BREMEN" in a circle on the front side, which I believe shows that it was used on that company's ship line. The back shows the mark of Koch und Bergfeld a script "K &...

Re: Christofle Chinon Serving Spoon

Thank you so much to everyone for all the information! I recently acquired the spoon, along with another Christofle soup spoon (7-3/8") in the same pattern. It does not have the pointed bowl, but is similarly marked, only no two digit date stamp. Based upon the photos, would you date this spoon...

Christofle Chinon Serving Spoon

This 8.5" serving spoon with pointed bowl is marked Christofle, and I believe it is in the Chinon pattern. The marks from left to right are "ALFE NIDE"; the Christofle mark with a "C" on each side, laurels under, scales, stars on top, and "84" in the center; then &...

Re: Reed & Barton Sugar Tongs Unknown Pattern

There is no image of it, but the Italian pattern's sugar tongs are the same length as my piece -- 3-3/8". This pattern is my best guess so far. I have found images of my piece through a Google search labeled as Renaissance, but based upon the photos from Replacements, I'm almost positive it's n...

Re: Reed & Barton Sugar Tongs Unknown Pattern

After some polishing, I noticed that after the Reed & Barton marking, there is a "2" and a cross (similar to a plus sign). Previously, I had thought it was "24". My guess is that it would have something to do the quality of silverplating. Not sure if this means anything, but ...

Re: Reed & Barton Sugar Tongs Unknown Pattern

Thank you for the reply. I looked at the Renaissance pattern, but here is an image of the sugar tongs from that pattern: https://i.postimg.cc/ZRBvqzwR/Ren-Tongs.jpg What I have is most likely a bon bon tongs (3 1/4"), which I cannot find a photo of. But the imagery on these bon bon tongs doesn'...

Silverplate Soup Spoon from Ermitage Elysees Restaurant

This soup spoon is from the Paris restaurant ERMITAGE ELYSEES. The spoon has two markings inside the top of the bowl: 60 GR BB The reverse handle top shows the restaurant name. Any help on maker and/or pattern would be great! Thanks. https://i.postimg.cc/52HBcyn9/IMG-5552.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/k4...

Reed & Barton Sugar Tongs Unknown Pattern

These sugar tongs are made by Reed & Barton and somewhat resemble their Renaissance multi-motif pattern, but they do not match up with Replacement's image of the sugar tongs in that pattern. The pattern features a face or mask. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! https://i.postimg.cc/...

Re: Unknown tea strainer?

Thank you so much! I found the maker -- George Jackson & David Fullerton, 1897:

I was looking at the mark in the wrong direction -- sideways.

Thanks again!

Unknown tea strainer?

I have what I believe is a British sterling 5-5/8" tea strainer, but am not sure of the piece type. The 4 hallmarks are very worn, but I believe the last one shows the 3 legs of the lion passant. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. https://i.postimg.cc/fRPPkc0Z/IMG-4969.jpg https://i.posti...
