Irish spoon stamped "Sterling"

It is my understanding that some flatware made in Ireland is stamped "Sterling". How early would they have been doing this? Would it have been done in the late 1700's or earlier?

Tks

spoon with eagle mark on back

Have a question about coin silver spoons with an eagle on the back. Would it be common to find spoons with just an eagle on the back of the handle and no other marks?

Re: Help ID'ing

Hi, Welcome to the Forum. http://www.925-1000.com/td/f/Silverplate/RC-mark-3.jpg EP-R.C-NS is a mark that crops up every now and again. It is almost certainly an English manufacturer working in the 1920's and producing a variety of wares, but beyond that I have never been able to nail the owner of ...

Re: storing silver in zip lock plastic bags

New to the forums but have experienced negative results with storing silver in a zip lock bag - the type that has white writing on it and a white space for you to mark the bag. This area of the bag was in contact with a piece of silver we own and left it discolored to the point where it left a mark ...

angle plate?

An open triangle with two circles on top.

I googled this and can't find anything. I'm just trying to learn and appreciate the info. Maybe the OP will find it and post the source. I would not get Hutton from this mark, but I guess that is where field experience comes in.

Re: is this fork Ag or silverplated?

Hi -

I still don't see it based on the link you gave. I do see an "A" that looks similar, but that is about it. What am I missing?

Re: is this fork Ag or silverplated?

Trev - I am brand new here and very interested in learning about hallmarks. I looked at the links you provided for William Hutton and I don't see one with just a "W" as shown by the poster. Are you sure it is by him? Just curious because it seems odd that an item would be marked with just ...
