Re: 17th century round silver plate

You might try someone who is knowledgeable in coinage / money. Look up "Martin Armstrong" who is one of the worlds most knowledgeable people about coins/currency. He may or may not be willing to help.... or someone else like him...

Re: Forks only marked B.B

You might want to get these tested to see what the metal composition is. The pic shows some black marks mixed in with the silver color, and that seems a tad unusual to me. Do they flex at all or are they solid and rigid? The look like coin silver but if you get them tested that will help figure out ...

Where is the line that deliniates "Southern Silver" ?

I have a general question as it relates to southern silver. If you were to draw a line on the map that delineates northern vs. southern - where would it go? Is it from Washington DC, along Maryland, VA, WV, TN ... or up higher? How far west would you go? Just curious because it has never really been...

Re: Masters? Coffin End Tablespoon

Tough one. The shape of the cartouche is the key imho... The first two letters look to me like Ma or Mc or maybe Mo. Might it be continental?

Re: Masters? Coffin End Tablespoon

The closest I could come is Richard Marsters of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Can you post a clear and larger pic of the mark?

Unknown mark SA on colonial teaspoon

Have a colonial teaspoon with mark of SA and have been unable to find a good match. I think it is American and there is a foliate scroll on the back of the bowl. It does not match published marks for Samuel Avery but appears to be from his time period. Wonder if anyone would know who this is... http...

Re: Unknown mark "W.W"

There is also a William Whittemore who worked up until 1775 in Kittery Maine. His mark in Flynt & Fales is very, very close to the one on this spoon.

Re: Unknown mark "W.W"

Here is a pic of the shell. It is somewhat unique. There was a William Ward who worked in CT around this time and while his documented WW mark is different, his other mark has a very similar font style for the W along with pellet location. https://www.americansilversmiths.org/makers/silversmiths/578...

Unknown mark "W.W"

Have a colonial era spoon - possibly circa 1770's, double punched with mark of W.W that is separated by a design element. Has a shell back bowl and is approx. 8" long. Can not find this mark and would appreciate learning who it is if anyone knows... https://i.postimg.cc/jdLK0rky/ww1.jpg https:/...
