When holding the spoon with the bowl pointing downwards, the marks are on the left of the rat-tail. Do you know what the lady is holding? It looks like a leaf and a feather.
Can anyone identify the marks on this early 18th Century(?) spoon with cherub mask finial? It has a later Swedish import mark. Miles http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h200/granmaa/watryj%202_zpsaymk6vfy.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h200/granmaa/watryj%203_zps6ft5t9nb.jpg
Can anyone tell me the maker (or even the initials) on this stylish cigarette case? I'd also be interested to know anything about the engraving. I'm posting this question on behalf of another member. Part of a base-metal spoon found at a dig site in Massachusetts. Is anyone able to date or place the spoon using the unusual drop? I think if you were to clean the hallmarks (not that I would advise it) more of the design would become clear. In this period of the Exeter Assay Office, the dies for the hallmarks were being cut by the talented William Wyon and his son Leonard Charles Wyon: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Char...
