You know, now I look at it Mike, C.H is quite likely. Do you have someone in mind?

Miles

PS I know you're too modest to admit your knowledge of makers, but could you take a look at the watch I've posted here; I'm sure you'll know it.

An unidentified cream jug

Here is a cream jug, most likely English. Does anyone know anything else about it?

Some sort of lidded bowl.

I have here a covered bowl, inside there is a removable layer, to put in something to keep the food warm I imagine. If possible I'd like to know the date and maker. Thankyou, Granmaa http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h200/granmaa/bowl.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h200/granmaa/bowlh.jpg

Pepper shaker with a strange mark

Dear all, Here is a pepper shaker. I know very little about silver plate so that's all can say. I'd guess that it is 1900's 1910's. The hallmark is a little worn. Yours, Granmaa http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h200/granmaa/Pepper.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h200/granmaa/peph.jpg

A thimble with a very faint hallmark

Here is a little thimble which has been rather mangled. It has some very faint hall marks: a u, which might be 1915 if it's from London, and the makers mark which looks like C.I or C.J or C.T. Forgive the picture. Thankyou for your time, Granmaa http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h200/granmaa/PICT034...

Lovely spoon, no idea of origin.

I have here a very ornate silver spoon with a character on top playing a flute. Does anyone know anything about it.

Georgian Serving Spoon Dodgy hallmarks?

Here is an serving spoon assayed in London in 1804. First of all, I don't know the maker (TO), and it also looks slightly suspect to me; you can clearly see it has been put over the top of another hallmark, which, judging by the top of it, doesn't seem to be TO. Can someone clear this up for me? Gra...

Umbrella handle with an unknown maker K.S Ld

Here is a nice umbrella handle assayed in London 1922. The maker says, I think, K.S Ld; does anybody know this company?

A vesta case with an unknown maker WJM?

Here is a nice vesta case or match holder. It was assayed in Birmingham in 1918, but I'm not sure of the maker as the mark has been partly obliterated by the lid closing and opening. The top line reads WJM and the bottom says & and then a smudge. Miles http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h200/gran...

Thanks for the maker Mike. Are you sure about that date? My book says 1791 is a q, and the 1810 P seems much more similar to the one on the spoon than the 1790.

The most boring spoon I have ever seen. Who made it?

Who was responsible for this spoon; he needs to be named and shamed! I don't know why the lion passant is smiling. 1810 spoon assayed in London, maker's mark SA. Miles http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h200/granmaa/PICT0355.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h200/granmaa/PICT0352.jpg .

Georgian fiddle pattern spoon WS?

Here is a fiddle pattern spoon clearly hallmarked to 1825. Alas, it has been very badly repaired. Who is the maker? Most likely WS rather than SM. Granmaa http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h200/granmaa/PICT0354.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h200/granmaa/PICT0353.jpg .

Here is a Georgian spoon given as a wedding present. Assayed in London in 1802. The maker is either BC or RC; what does everyone think? Granmaa http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h200/granmaa/PICT0351.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h200/granmaa/PICT0350.jpg .

Unknown maker on a Georgian spoon

Dear all, Here is a single drop teaspoon, assayed in London 1792. I'm pretty sure the maker is Bc; who is this and is it usual to have one capital letter and one small? Granmaa http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h200/granmaa/PICT0349.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h200/granmaa/PICT0348.jpg .

Thankyou for your help Mike. Bit of a shame though. Disregarding the maker's mark and date mark, what characteristics would you expect to see in an early 18th century spoon?

Neruda, I'm almost completely certain that there has been no repair to this spoon, it might be the grainy photograph that makes it look so. The monogram is on the other side of the handle because it turns up at the end rather than down, such was the norm before the late 18th century. This meant that...
