Dear Theoderich.
Thanks for the confirmation.

It would be great to identify the silversmith, in order to more precise for the date of production of the piece.

Re: Spanish mark 18e century - Probably Barcelona

Dear Ubaranda, Thank you for your confirmation. Can you give me the reference of the book from which the image is extracted ? I am surprised that for a main city like Barcelona, the book displays the mark for 16th c.,1825, but not for 17th c nor 18th c. ! I seems that there is not so many books abou...

Re: identifity silversmith

Hi, We can see the Minerva (France, from 1838 to now), but I suppose you identified it. Concerning the silversmith : his name seems to we fully written, but hard to read. I read : F? or I? HUG?... or HUC?... Unfortunatly, I did not find him on the "Vocabulaire" database (silversmith 1875-1...

Re: Help with this ancient silver cup

Hi, Another remark : the third marks is most probably the one for the purity of silver. I guess that "D.G / 9.20 / ..." stands for "9 deniers 20 grains" (old French measure). I saw a similar marks for a silver item from Colmar (Alsace) ; unfortunatly, there is very few documentat...

Re: unknown marks from 1738

Hello Ringo, I am not a specialist in Swiss silver, but the few Swiss marks I saw were quite close to yours. I own a book on Swiss silver marks, but could not access it before several weeks (the book is in a different place). What we can observe is that : - KELLER, probably the silversmith, is a nam...

Re: Help with this ancient silver cup

It is not the "A" of Paris.

It could be austrian nevertheless.
