Re: Karol Filip Malcz 1797 - 1867

Hi -
after the retirement of K. Malcz, T. Werner was his successor. He used the same trademark - the anchor.

Re: Cut glass candy dish and cover

Hi Ag2012 - I have no clue how the rest of this object could have looked - I can not immagine a salver or platter as stand. That gives no sense and I do not remember having seen anything like that in the past. Even if it is part of several pieces it have to be hallmarked correct. Just remember coffe...

Re: Seeking Information on Tongs

Hi Qrt.S - some threads ago we agreed to deal civilized with each other. Now you start again with accusations and insinuations. What for? Believe me - cooperation leads much further. All you wrote has long been known, discussed and provided properly. Why repeating it again and again? What is wrong w...

Hi Qrt.S -
one of the reasons why I always provide sources (PL # 2104) - you at once can detect typos!
It would be nice if you could do the same - I am mainly are here to learn...not to believe.

Re: Seeking Information on Tongs

Hi -
the motif on the tongs looks like later added - the sunburst is typical for representing Latvian mythological or legendary figures.

Re: Not often seen enamel from Schaposchnikov

Hi all - if you are after enamel sugar tongs you must pay attention to certain details. As they are quite rare and very sought after - they are of course copied. Mostly plain, original (no problems with the marks!) sugar tongs are used and then subsequently provided with enamelled "shells"...

Re: Not often seen enamel from Schaposchnikov

Hi Juke - I understand your point of view in princible! But please consder that there were enamelmasters/silversmiths of different quality. You can not compare Schischkin with Saltikov, Klingert or Ovtschinnikov. See examples: Saltikov https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg Klingert https://www.925-...

Re: Not often seen enamel from Schaposchnikov

Hi Juke - I do not know how experienced you are in handling and assessing Russian enamel, particularly the enamel of Schaposchnikov. I could just say - your opinion against my opinion - end of the conversation - to each his own. Because I believe in the tremendous information potential of this forum...

Re: Not often seen enamel from Schaposchnikov

Not bad for one who has only a book from Traina and Watts!
So much about prejudices!

Karol Filip Malcz 1797 - 1867

Hi all - Karol Filip Malcz was one of the most famous silversmiths in Warsaw. Not necessarily my collection area but still very interesting in contrast to the Russian and Baltic silver. Here are some objects which over the years came into my possession. https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg Ashtray...

Hi Dad - what ever you see - actual it is AP - a little crippelt. But not K3! At a meeting of collectors of Baltic silver in the "House of the Balts" in Detmold I received the following additions to A. Leistikow's book "Baltic Silver". This information is missing in her book p. 3...
