Hi I recently found this french .950 silver set - an escargot set? But I can't find anything on the makers mark. Ok, now I've got it. I thought silverplate marks would be the same on all items from a certain manufacturer - I didn't understand that they changed them around. Thanks Pat!

Thanks so much for the info, Patrick, but I have another question: does it make any difference that the mark/symbols you scanned aren't the same as what's on my piece? I'm not even sure GR Collis worked in sterling, but since I'll be selling this item, I obviously don't want to sell it as silverplat...

Hi - Can anyone tell me what the marks mean on this Collis (British) double inkwell? I believe it's plated, but these marks don't look like any of the Collis plated marks I've seen. Also, any idea of the date of manufacture? It's got incredible detailing (etched and molded) and 2 cut crystal inkwell...
