Hi
Snuff boxes were made for the pocket or the table, I should imagine yours is of the latter.

Re: Is it a Sheffield hallmark?
I am beginning to think these must be pseudo marks, the lion passant doesn't seem right.

Re: Is it a Sheffield hallmark?
Hi
It appears to be by Sheffield maker Creswick & Co with a date letter 1825 but with Queen Victoria duty mark which would not be right for this date.
Lets see what others think.

Re: Possibly Scandinavian Snuff Box
Hi Aguest, even with the object in hand and under a decent loupe, the detail is no clearer than in the posted image. I think it must have been struck with a damaged punch, as the original gilding is intact on all of the marks, so it is not down to wear of an originally good strike. I guess I wont ev...

Re: Possibly Scandinavian Snuff Box
Hi
Thank you for the replies, I have completely cleaned the marks, however I think rather than being worn they have been poorly struck.

Re: Picture and Fancy Back Spoon Request
Hi
This teaspoon circa 1765 appears to have a lion's face surrounded by scrolls.

Re: Jug & Bowl
Thanks very much for the information guys, there are no further marks on the jug, if the handle was originally marked it has completely worn away and left no evidence.
Thanks again

Re: Jug & Bowl
Hi
Thank you for your responses. The marks shown are on the bowl, the marks to the jug are very worn, but I have uploaded an image of them below.

Unusually marked marrow scoop
Hi This marrow scoop is stamped four times with the mark of Thomas & William Chawner, I know that silver marked with the makers mark only is not uncommon and the possible reasons for this have been discussed on here before. What I find a bit unusual on this piece is that the final mark is a diff...

Can anyone determine the maker?
Hi This table spoon has some partly worn hallmarks, the date letter is possibly 1769, but is there enough left of the makers mark for anyone to make an attribution?
