Re: William Gale & Son 1855 Footed Tray

Regards for that, Trev.! Some more information on operating partnerships/addresses: https://www.sterlingflatwarefashions.com/Res/Part/G/GaleWmSon.html Everything I could compare to this salver suggests authentic Gale feet, with the rest of the design elements fitting as a shared similarity even thou...

William Gale & Son 1855 Footed Tray

16" x 12.5" by 1.25 high. (I see from D&H entries by Trev that Gale's retail operation was once located in the Metropolitan Hotel's ground floors.) Any information on this tray or related pieces is welcome. I suspect we have no reason to doubt the metal content? Gothic letters are &quo...

Noticing the highlighting...I think you need 5th town listed above the eight images. The lower list goes to the ten image row.

Re: Assistance with maker of hand held sterling mirror-left facing lion

It's Lion Passant Guardant. Being an unregulated false or valse mark here, it may only be one from a group of psuedo marks used by a maker aside from their name or letter mark. Likely candidates using this make might lean towards Canadian makers, so perhaps Roden Bros. heritage through Birks-era con...

Re: Napoleon Bonaparte’s spoon?

Looks like the sample images are gone, but this might be of interest. I was able to track this retro-Napoleonic china back to the French Sarreguemines pottery. There are different color bases and border areas appearing on plate listings. The green one shown below employs a fill area designed to look...

Latest Problem: Images blocked or more?

Anyone suddenly getting the old question mark boxes where recent images should be (specifically Postimage host)? If so, also getting a rash of annoying "server cannot be verified" messages for select sites (including this one) you normally use, but not affecting other regular sites? Any ot...

Interesting...there has been at least one prior query involving only a "G"...perhaps another variation on this duplicitous connivance?

Re: Chatelaine with unknown marks

No intent to be argumentative, but just fascinated by this Mark. Could it be the initials began in semi-gothic form, such that g?? might read "gfs" (gothic h and f are similar styles to start, but can be confused/obscured with damage or wear). That said, the official Lubeck guild marks end...

Shield contained within double headed eagle would seem to point to Lubeck? An old thread listing some known Lubeck marks:

Sample Spoon Unidentified Late Eagle

Cultural souvenir/tourist trinket: Type 2 Eagle 53 with indecipherable letters above. Possibly "SE?" for a maker who could have worked for a shop/plateria assigned this eagle number. https://i.postimg.cc/zfBfMQ52/image.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/yNbNzT81/image.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/DZ4wfb...

Re: 4 3/8" spoon I cannot identify. Latzko (smith/retailer?)

The Dianakopf (for .800 minimum fineness here) is setting the date range. These are very blurred images of the marks, so...based upon what you have given, you need to determine if there is a city code in the Dianakopf (Mark 3 with 5 lobes) and start from that location using this chart: https://www.9...

Re: 4 3/8" spoon I cannot identify. Latzko (smith/retailer?)

There's a few references to Latzko in old threads using the search function box. Here is mentioned Latzko Brothers acting as a retailer with Trev's link near the end to old Austrian marks: https://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=50755&p=156505&hilit=latzko&sid=c073e09bed26...
