American Spoon Maker (?) S R with pseudo marks

I have the following tea spoon with what seems like a pseudo lion passant mark and pseudo duty head I am in England but the triangular shaped drop is not typical of an English spoon Otherwise it is fairly typical of an early 19th century english spoon There are two stamped initials 'S' and 'R' which...

Re: Markings on Egyptian Teapot

Hello
I can't make it all out but the word on the bottom right says Fes and I suspect that the teapot is of a type that is made in large numbers in Fes, Morocco. You are right I think they tend to be a base metal, perhaps thinly silvered.
thank you

Re: Can Iranian silver use other Hallmarks? (Farsi Readers Requested)

Hello I don't read farsi but I am a bit familiar with the alphabet and would say that what is written on the piece isn't the same as what you say google translates sterling silver as. Iran did have a hallmarking system and as far as I know that existed during the Pahlevi era. However, its not that c...

Re: Persian(?) platter

This is Persiam (Iranian) and clearly of high quality.
Usually Persian silver is 84% pure but many items were also 90% pure and I suspect thats what the 90 refers to

Re: Persian Heart shaped box

I would agree that this is in the Kashmiri regional style rather than Kutch and that it is a late 19th century pin cushion

Hello
I think that this is sudanese and I have seen similar wares; especially bowls but also boxes and canisters
They always seem to be a very good grade of silver usually 925 but sometimes even 950

I would guess that it's fairly recent and that it's Kashmiri or Indian Islamic in style.

Re: WB - German (?) spoon

Thank you Hose_dk for those interesting comments I got the spoon from north England. From a vendor, I bought approximately 20 spoons. I bought them mainly because I knew it would be interesting to find out what they are. One of the spoons was English so I understood that one. All the others have mar...

WB - German (?) spoon

I have the following interesting silver spoon. The only mark is the maker WB. Re: India Silver Identification

I would describe this as being a fairly contemporary variation of the Islamic influenced Kashmiri regional style.
I would expect it to be of fairly recent manufacture but its good quality and I would expect it to be sterling grade.
