Re: Naples spoon

I opt for wavy line. Although I cannot say I have seen many Naples marks, the logic is as follows: if the only difference was wavy vs. straight line, one would expect the utmost care to punch adequate line to make the difference. Therefore, this is wavy line. Regards So few examples to compare the ...

Naples spoon

Good evening Another one of today's find. Also thought it was silver plated. After cleaning it had a Naples mark on it. I am not certain of the maker. It looks something like PRETA. Re: Spoon with Rooster mark

Hi JanGroen, Johan Paul WILM is a famous manufacturer - the Prussian Hofjuwelier-and it was made in Berlin. The rooster is actually a bear with the letter K on its back. This is the Wardens mark. K stands for J.C.S.Kessner, 1819-1854. The secondary Assayers mark (Probiermeister) is the B=Ch.F.Deppe,...

Re: Henri Soufflot 950 silver fork

Henri Soufflot was the successor of Henri Chenailler in 1884. The bigorne was used 1818 until 1984 according my source. From 1818 to 1984, the French instituted a system whereby they engraved their anvils with insects. In the case of the small anvil used to mark jewelry, they were incised in a zigz...

Re: Henri Soufflot 950 silver fork

Good evening, see French Bigorne marks; http://www.silvercollection.it/dictionarybigorne.html Asseblief, Peter. Thanks Peter I saw that but am bit confused as Henri registered his mark in 1884, same year they stopped putting bugs on silver. Does this mean the fork was made in 1884 or before that? J...

Good evening Got this from a silver plate scratch box today. Turns out to be a 950 silver fork by Henri Soufflot. Any idea what the pattern could be? Duchess of Sutherland Cripples Guild pin dish

Good day Found this antique plated copper pin dish today. It was made by the Duchess of Sutherland Cripples Guild. It was probably made between 1902 and 1922.
