Re: Gratschev and S. P. Burg

I have a theory on this, it might be absurd but seems likely to me.There is no maker S. P. Burg it is an abbreviation for St.Petersburg that became popular right about 1910, that was not used very often, but can be seen a lot on different private, government, police and military medals, badges butto...

Re: Moscow niello beaker

I wash silver in an ammonia solution, even the gilded part if really necessary, but without rubbing(if you rub, you will destroy the building)! It does not get all the staining out, but helps bring back the brightness. However in your case I would leave it as is, it does not seem too tarnished.

Re: Moscow niello beaker

I think it is the same maker as the Moscow Niello spoon posted earlier in this forum, at least the niello looks exactly in the same technique to me.
As Zolotnik sugested for my spoon- Wasily Semenov, don't know if it's him for sure, but pretty sure it's the same maker

Re: Faberge fork

I also Showed the fork to an expert in Geneva, who said he wa not 100 percent sure but he leans more toward real then fake. The missing"bad" engraving turned out to be polished away under light, during closer investigation, the connections are still there but can barely be seen.If this is i...

Re: Faberge fork

You don't have to be mean and Sarcastic, this was one of my purchases I wasn't sure about. Just so you know faberge also made simple model cutlery with no enamel and engravings, as we can see from the factory catalogs; so you comparing a fork to complicated enamel and guilloche works is just ridicul...

Interesting set of marks W.Hempel and Estonia

Here is a nice fork with W.H. marks, which i assume is Wladislaw Hempel in Wasrsaw, however the Estonian marks confuse me; are those import marks or retailers marks, and who is FL.I assume the moonlike symbol is Hempel's logo, sine it is present on most other objects i've seen. https://www.925-1000....

Re: Maker ИВК Kostroma

Thank you very much Alex. Do you know why some makers used this type of Kokoshnik instead of the classic one, could it have something to do with objects made for export, or just to make it smaller
