Re: Bear spoons for the Podstakannik please help with the ma

I thought they are authentic but not faberge. What is interesting about the kokoshnik mark is that it varies enormously in size, so I do not believe the tiny kokoshnik mark will have exactly the same detail as the big kokoshnik on my Ljubavin creamer for example.

Boianowsky salt cellar

A very interesting salt cellar for me, Boianowsky was a purveyor to a Grand Duchesses court, and did not produce a lot. The year seems to be 1861 or 1867, hard to see due to the polishing, but it has an inscription for 1913, 50 years later which says Carskoe Selo, which I find particularly interesti...

Ljubavin Creamer

A beautiful Ljubavin Creamer I acquired recently, was wandering why the name would be mentioned twice as AL(Ljubavin in Postnikova) and Ljubavin? The creamer has a French cygne import mark.Assayer Yakov Ljapunov. What is interesting I find is that there is an identical one in the 1893 Faberge catalo...

Bear spoons for the Podstakannik please help with the maker

Re: Cloisonné Enamel spoon by Kuzmichev for Tiffany & co?

I know it is in auction , I only took it as an example, although mistakes in description can be red flags, it does not necessarily mean a fake. The pill box I pictured here is in my opinion closer in style to my spoon , has similar markings and comes from a respected old collection

Re: Cloisonné Enamel spoon by Kuzmichev for Tiffany & co?

Zolotnik i dont understand why you always compare to the top notch imperial object and gold, every firm made different qualities.

Please compare this average Russian Imperial work, to your objects maybe the are all fake :) ?

Cloisonné Enamel spoon by Kuzmichev for Tiffany & co?

Hello everyone, I have just bought this for myself in an online auction in the USA, I was intrigued by the markings. First of all it is 88 zolotniki which is nice, and should date exactly to 1888 even if we can't see the year, since Artibashev served from 1888-1898 and the engraving says 1888. https...

Re: Gratschev and S. P. Burg

Additionally, I have a suspicion that the city mark was added by the maker rather than the assayer, although I might be wrong

Re: Gratschev and S. P. Burg

The Reason would be simply marketing. How many regular people buying the silver back at the time would know the
Greek letter abbreviations for the cities, that alpha stands for St.Petersburg- not many I believe; so a way to proudly inform the customer that the item was manufactured in the Capital

Re: Gratschev and S. P. Burg

Dear All, i think Ubaranda's last photo with the Petrograd mark is the final proof of it being a city.
I believe I have seen a Morozov mark together with S.P. Burg(that is why I listed it), but it was a long time ago and I do not have a photo or proof, maybe I am forgetting something.
