Re: London tea caddy spoon? Crown over "N" date?

Thanks for your help!!!!

I did suspect that it was Sheffield, so this thread should be moved over into the Sheffield sub-forum,
but I still don't understand why this piece lacks the town mark for Sheffield.

Everything makes sense except the lack of the Sheffield town mark, so I was confused.

London tea caddy spoon? Crown over "N" date?

Hello hallmark heroes and heroines, Here we have a tea caddy spoon with the lion passant, the head of a king, a maker's mark "GE & Co." and a crown over N mark. I have not been able to figure out this spoon. If there is no leopard, was it made in London? If the "N with the crown o...

Re: Silver spoon possibly early Lion mark

I find it strange that the lion is upside down when compared to the "TJ" makers mark. Also, when I look at the lion, it seems to be an imitation of the Lion Passant symbol. It closely resembles the Lion Passant, but something is just a bit different there when I look at it for a long time....

The Fifth Muffineer (London 1700s)

The Fifth Muffineer: Possibly Samuel Wheat. This one has a monogram and a faint image of a Stag family crest (a full length stag image) https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg The top of the muffineer is marked, and I believe I see the same hallmarks as the base, but the image is so faded that it wou...

Re: The Fourth Muffineer (London 1700s)

Just for clarification, the "A P" stamp is on the top, which is next to an erased HB hallmark.

I am not sure if these muffineers are legally overstamped or illegally overstamped.

The top of The Second Muffineer is also marked "I . D"

So now let's move on to the next one, which I will put in a separate third thread.

7 muffineers all London all 1700s

I recently adopted these 7 muffineers from the Sterling Silver Shelter :) I shall try again to get below the 1000 pixel limit: First Muffineer (1734 possibly by Francis Nelme) https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg http://i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh494/spoonseeker/spoonseeker002/Muff-1.jpg

Re: Silver French Tongs 1798-1809

The hallmark symbol which I thought was an elephant or an overweight horse appears to actually be a representation of Lady Godiva, painted by Dutch artist Van Noort circa 1588. https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg I did some image enhancement and it seems to match this image, if I am not mistaken.

Re: Face sticking out tongue spoon Denmark?

Actually I am not even sure that this spoon is from Denmark.

It does remind me of the wooden face carvings in certain Danish shipping ports.

I have seen a few Danish commemorative spoons that celebrated these face carvings, so I just assumed this is from Denmark?

Thank you all Ag4ever

Both hallmarks look so similar, but I am leaning towards the first choice.

Thanks for the assistance in the hallmark universe.

1902 Snuff box W&Co?

This hallmark is unclear due to wear, but is it W & Co? I found one reference to W & Co but it said "unknown maker" https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg Here is the entire snuff box. It has exceptional bright-cut engraving and a Greek revival style border. https://www.925-1000.co...
