Apostle Spoon Simon Zet

If it is not London, then we could move this thread to the appropriate forum. The only mark is the "N" hallmark on the outside of the bowl, and I have no idea where to begin with this one. https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg

Re: What was this 1937 cup used for?

The angels seem dressed in a robe with a headdress that looks kind of like a turban, but then again kind of not. "He seemed to be a tall, dark man in his thirties, well-knit, active and strong, with the face of a savage king, and eyes veiled lest their gaze should destroy what they saw. The dre...

Re: Tea Strainer

I tried but couldn't find the maker. Maybe the name begins with "T." I do get a American Arts & Crafts feeling from the piece, though, 1930s or 1940s, art deco.

Sorry I couldn't help.

Are the marching angels original, or perhaps added later? This cup seems designed for some sort of ritualistic purpose.

RIght, i was just reading Francais' story about the dealer's story about the salt shaker with one hole and it reminded me of the Jensen Salt Cellars.

Re: American Coin, what is it?

If you look at Georg Jensen salt cellars from 1910-1920, you will see that they have one hole pierced in the top. I still can't figure out how this is an effective salt cellar design. Maybe they unscrew and then you use a salt master spoon to scoop out the salt, but why the one hole in the top? The ...

I thought it might be Towle, but there's something not quite right about the hallmark.

Re: Austrian Serving Spoon (late 19th century)

My mistake, I meant to say "Austro-Hungarian Empire" which I believe would be the correct title for this spoon? Yes it seems it was made in Budapest, interesting that the maker is "BU" and the city is "Budapest." Coincidence? The method of testing is the common acid scr...

Austrian Serving Spoon (late 19th century)

Hello from the silver shack. I found an Austrian Serving Spoon and I believe it is late 19th century. The mark seems to indicate a fineness of .800, but when it was tested it scored very high content of silver, at least .925 and more like .935 or .950. Why would a mark for .800 test higher than .800...

This is an interesting piece, and the first sterling silver trowel I have ever seen.

The handle is nice too, I suppose the handle is made of Ivory.

Re: Articulated Fish

It is difficult for me to see any hallmark in the second picture.

I would also love to know who made this fish. It is really an amazing object.

Hopefully there are marks on the fish that someone will recognize.

Re: What was this holder used for?

It could have been used for a small lorngette, or however you spell that word.

A Lorngette is a pair of glasses used specifically for the opera.

Maybe you would need the chain so you could hang the lorngette holder on your coat while you watched the opera?

A Disney Mystery

I have searched for hours to identify this item. It is marked "Disney" and ".925" but I have no idea what its purpose was. It is thinner and flatter near the tip and then it becomes slightly thicker and rounder near the Mickey Mouse Ears. https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg ht...

Re: London tea caddy spoon? Crown over "N" date?

I did find the name George Eadon & Co. from a few auction houses that had very large pieces on display. If this is the first one you have ever seen, it must be rare indeed!!! I wish there was some way I could thank you for all of your help, I truly admire your dedication. In Argentum Veritas!!!!
